I'm sorry to everyone who enjoying Fringe but I think the show is ridiculous! Nothing more than an X-Files rip-off! The stories are so predictable that I was watching an episode with my sister and I told her exactly what was going to happened next and she asked me if I had watched it again! Yes in The X-Files and in dozens others series since then!!!! Where is the originality in television today? And it's not only the plot that's bad, the characters are worst: two-dimensional without depth and no chemistry between them. Anna Torv has not the charisma to carry a show like this (she isn't Gillian Anderson that's for sure) and Joshua Jackson with his sarcastic tone becomes irritating after a while. Maybe he's trying too hard to be Mulder! Again, where is the originality? What is the most disappointing is that despite the money they spend in TV shows today, despite the techniques they developed, the special effects etc the writing is getting worstand the creativity died somewhere along th

Just saw the pilot and wow, this is awful. The wooden emotional acting by Torv and the absolute plot non-sequitors: "I found someone who is a connection because they're in the same city! I need to quiz someone due to them having an association with my weak lead! And I only have 24 hours to do so because a crazy guy says so!" I can't cheer for an agent who goes around myopically trying to save her partner rather than DOING HER JOB. I'll take Jack Bauer over her anyday, even a non-violent version, due to his character's work ethic.
You struck out on casting the pilot, JJ.

The 3D title cards gotta go, I love the show and Joshua is one of my favorite actors, but it makes me cringe and not want to watch every single time I see them, it's too much and stupid.

The show has promise if they can be a little more creative. Monday's episode was a rehash of an original X-Files episode. I could have told you what was going to happen and how it would end. Is creativity dead? Why not rename the characters Scully and Mulder. I like the show but Monday was a BIG disappointment. Not everyone that watches TV or frequents the theater are under the age of 16. So how about being a more imaginative?

I was eventually attracted to X-Files because it had the FBI aspect to it, never was a fan of sci-fi, but conspiracy theory stuff, oh yeah. And still am a huge fan of the X-Files.
I thought if it combined X-Files with Alias (LOVE Alias), I'd be a happy camper, especially since Abrams was at the helm.
What the youngins don't get is that there is nothing new under the sun--everything is some sort of reheated pizza. And the fact the pilot wasn't a slam bang shoot 'em up sensory overload, is also a good thing. It's a building process, a whole body of work perception, not necessarily all the hooplah confined to a single shot/episode.
Torv is much better than Lynch.
Also was not pleased to see Mark Valley offed already--I'm still hacked off at FOX for hosing Keen Eddie after three episodes (had a whole season filmed and only showed three eps...jack asses.)
Hopefully Abrams crafted some sort of bullet-proof contract with FOX, so the show gets a chance.
