Despite trying to appear serenely demure, Gillian Flynn and I are pretty psyched for the return of two of our fave (and Emmy-nominated) sitcoms, The Office and 30 Rock. But we’d also like to know: Which laff-shows are you most eagerly awaiting? (Side note: If the minute-long chat below doesn’t fulfill your work-procrastination needs, click here and catch more of Gillian’s and my discussions about the upcoming fall TV season.)

House always makes me laugh as does Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory
This is hard to admit, but I’m looking forward to the Jerry O’Connell, Niecy Nash sitcom. It looks awful, but I think the two of them are funny so I’m hoping for a miracle. Other than that, 30 Rock and Samantha Who.
I really hope Kath and Kim is funny. Really I do.
I can’t wait for The Office to be back. And I also hope Kath and Kim is funny. The commercials already make me laugh, so that’s good.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the funniest show on TV. I often have to pause it while watching it, as I am actually laughing so loud that I can’t hear what they said.
I can’t wait for more Big Bang Theory. I own the DVDs and still watch the reruns every Monday. Absolutely hilarious show.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!!! Hih…wait for it…larious!
How I Met Your Mother. Awesome, awesome show. I also like The Big Bang Theory and have high hopes for Kath and Kim.
I started watching Big Bang Theory during the summer and I am surprised how much I enjoyed it. Also can’t wait for HIMYM.
“How I Met Your Mother” – A show will real heart and smart comedy. Give it a chance.
30 Rock!!!!! And The Office. I hope Kath and Kim is funny, or at least if it has potential they stick with it for a while (hello, Miss Guided….). Also, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have been my biggest laughs lately. They definitely deserve a mention.
Can’t wait for Scrubs.
BTW, Gillian Flynn needs to stop chit chatting and start writing more books.
Though it’s not a traditional sitcom, I personally can’t wait for the premiere of Pushing Daisies. It has comedic elements and whimsy like no other show on TV.
I’m looking forward to 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother the most. I like The Office too, but I LOVE the other two.
Beyond the NBC kick-@$$ Thursday night line-up, I’m looking forward to CBS’ How I Met Your Mother and the vastly underrated The New Adventures Of Old Christine.
Definitely has to be It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
My Name Is Earl and How I Met Your Mother are really the only two comedies that make me laugh out loud. I can’t wait to see what Earl’s list holds for him this season, and the show creators regularly display the best use of music of any sitcom out there.
“My Name Is Earl” and “How I Met Your Mother” are really the only two sitcoms that make me laugh out loud. Not only do they both have tons of hilarious inside jokes, but Earl’s creators regularly display the best use of music of any show on television, and have great guest stars that don’t feel like “stunt casting.” Love it.
I would like to laugh at…you guessed it! SWINGTOWN! So SAVE SWINGTOWN!
Gotta be It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and How I Met Your Mother!
Big Bang Theory & Chuck. I love my nerd shows!
1. 30 Rock
2. The Office
3. My Name is Earl
4. HIMYM
5. Scrubs
How I Met Your Mother!
then an abyss
then Old Christine, 30 Rock and Scrubs
believe it or not — besides 30 Rock its The Big Bang Theory. I watched reruns all summer and it won me over with its characters and sweetness. Sheldon has to be one of the all time great sitcom characters. Too bad its up against my other fave Monday shows Gossip Girl and Terminator. My DVR can only record so much.
How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock!!
The Office and 30 Rock top my list. And: House,Chuck, Eli Stone (I don’t know why, and a couple of others
and if I had HBO I’d say Flight of the Conchords and Big Love but I don’t have it.. and I don’t know when they start
1. Old Adventures of New Christine
2. HIMYM
3. Big Bang
4. Til Death
5. Office
How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, Old Christine…
The Big Bang Theory. Funniest new sitcom in years. Anyone who does not watch it does not know what they are missing.
I can’t wait for The Middleman to return next season… hopefully!
