i take back what i wrote earlier – the buffy/angel love song, “close your eyes” is perhaps the most memorable song in buffyverse. and they used it a number of times. it’s haunting and beautiful. god i loved this show.
I wish you success

Great article, those songs really do envoke some of the best emotions from Buffy, one quick note – Save the Last Dance for Me was sung by the Drifters, not Ben E. King, who sang Stand By Me.
The ones from Hush because I borrowed them and used them as the background music for a history project I did in the 8th grade. The presentation went to the statewide competition, where I lost, and also lost my Once More With Feeling cd. It was a day filled with losses.
I think my favorites are both Sarah M — Full of Grace for Season 2 (Becoming Pt 2) and The Prayer of St Francis for season 6. How come no one mentions season 6? (Grave) That was the final boundary between youth and adulthood, for Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Xander and even Spike… Also love Rob Duncan’s Final Fight (Chosen) (not available on my slacker.com, bad slacker!) and of course Sacrifice (The Gift). The most powerful instrumental music for the series. They’re both seminal, ranking with LOTR music and anything John Williams, etc has ever done. Hush is also great overall episode music, maybe second only to OMWF.
the buffy/angel theme is my favorite of all time. i’m tearing up just thinking of it now. must stop. you get a brief but touching portion of it in “moment of happiness,” number 5 on this cd.
