'Labor Pains': Does this trailer make you wistful for Lindsay Lohan?

Getting misty-eyed during a comedy trailer isn’t usually a great sign. But I actually found myself a little verklempt—in a good way—while watching the preview for Labor Pains, a new fake-bun-in-the-oven comedy starring Lindsay Lohan. It’s not that the clip was tear-jerkingly good; it mostly looks like a warmed-over hodepodge of Baby Mama and Knocked Up, except with lamer jokes and and, oddly, a lot more cigarette smoking (hey, at least she’s not…well, fill in the blank). But seeing Lohan back on screen in even a medium-cute romcom took me straight back to the halcyon days of 2004, when Mean Girls made a star of a plucky young actress who hadn’t yet fallen into a rabbit hole of drunk-driving arrests, chronic clubbing, and addiction to leggings. And today, just over a year after I attempted to suck my own eyeballs out with a bendy straw while watching her play a nymphomaniac amputee stripper in I Know Who Killed Me, I found myself getting wistful at the thought that Labor Pains might actually give Lohan a shot at revitalizing her passed-out career—or at least dragging it out of the gutter. Now if she’d just ditch the peroxide…

What do you think PopWatchers? Does Labor Pains look like an unexpected bundle of joy, or should it be left in a basket on the straight-to-DVD doorstep?

I really like Lindsay as a actress. We won’t even talk about “I know who killed me”…LOL. I think this movie does look cute. I’ll go see it. I was one of the few who liked “Just my Luck” ;)

OMG…. her career is sooo in the crapper. What she needs to do is get a good supporting role in a film with some big name A-list actors, not make movies like this.
Can’t believe she at one point in time made $7 mil, and now makes less than $1 mil. Ha!

If Chris Parnell is there, I’m there.

I think she’d have a much better shot if she had a wider range of roles. Most of her movies basically focus around her as a sort of damaged, kind of funny and basically decent adolescent/post-adolescent. I haven’t really seen a difference in the characters she’s played and how she plays them. I dunno if that’s the roles themselves, or her ability, but this looks preeeetty much the same as everything she’s ever done.

I also think her career in the crapper but my issue with this trailer is that this makes for a great 1/2 episode of Friends or Will and Grace but a full length film? We’re in a recession and I have to be careful where I spend my $11.

What’s with all the “Now in Post-Production” legends at the end of movie trailers?

i really don’t care for all the smoking in the trailer. and btw, when was it ever a fact that LL was ‘talented’? she’s never shown any range. all her film roles are a variation on the same person.

I’m ready to like again, Lindsay! Please just try to be sane, mkay? This looks like it could be reasonably funny. In related news, I had to check IMDB.com to be sure, but that’s Chicken Little!!!! I mean, Kevin Covais…from American Idol. I saw him in the trailer for “College”, I think. He doesn’t seem like he’s too bad!

This movie doesn’t look great, but mabe it’s better than some of the other garbage she’s put out. One can hope. I miss the Lindsay of the “Mean Girls” & “Freaky Friday” days.
