How many times did you laugh at 'The House Bunny'?

I had high hopes for The House Bunny, perhaps because I hadn’t read Lisa Schwarzbaum’s generous B- review of it. But when I finally saw it this weekend, I laughed approximately four times. (I say "approximately," because I think I would’ve laughed at the Simon Cowell joke if I hadn’t seen the trailer, embedded below, so often.)

What about you? Tell me I haven’t officially lost my sense of humor and that Anna Faris just deserves better material.

I laughed pretty hard at times, but it helps when you’re in a theatre with a lot of other people laughing as well. Although I laughed hardest at the “I gotta meet this friggin bird!”

Mandi – If you want to laugh out loud at a movie, go see “Tropic Thunder” I saw it this weekend and almost snarfed my soda several times! I can no longer listen to that “low” song without laughing hysterically.

aw! I went and saw this with a group of girlfriends (as one is a house mother to a sorority herself) and I wasn’t expecting oscar gold or anything, but it did its job. it made me laugh and though extremely predictable, anna faris is extremely likeable and I feel she is one of the few– if only– actresses in hollywood who isn’t afraid to be silly or slapsticky, which is a nice change from the sexy/pouty jessica albas and angelina jolies. I think that she’s not given enough credit and hopefully she won’t be in these kind of movies forever. maybe her next step could be an apatow flick?

I think for movies like this, you have to be in the mood. I laughed in this movie a lot. It was the typical Happy Madison production but for girls, which I found refreshing.

Well, since she pitched it and (I think) helped produce it, I’d say she’s getting pretty much what she deserves as far as material is concerned. I haven’t seen “House Bunny” yet, but when I do I am sure I will enjoy it – I am not expecting it to be an Academy Award winning movie so I am sure it will meet my expectations.

Laura, the “I gotta meet this friggin bird” was one of the best lines that still has me chuckling. And anytime she met someone new and repeated their name using that Exorcist-like voice always cracked me up.

While not the most original or creatively written movie, Anna Faris really showed what a great comedic actress she was. I thought she was hilarious. And Emma Stone did a great job as well.

I’m going to have to agree with both parties on this one. I was expecting a predictable “feel good” movie, that’s definitely what I got. However, I feel as if most of the funny parts were shown on the previews. I think it’s because I LOVED Anna Faris in The Hot Chick and Just Friends, and had high hopes for this movie as well..and it was kind of a let down. Even with all that being said, I still thought it was a really cute movie.

I thought the beginning was uneven, but midway I was really laughing. When she banged her head underneath the table and yelled “Holy balls,” it was like she’d channeled Farley for a second. I think Fred Wolf, who directed the movie, has a great comic sensibility. He just wants to make you laugh, pure and simple. No need to show off or complicate the matter — just give ‘em a good laugh. He did it with scripts he’s penned like “Tommy Boy” and “Joe Dirt,” and now as a director. I think he’s got a good future.

I turned and looked in disgust at my movie companion more times than I laughed. I’d chalk up two guffaws for me.

There’s nothing funny in the movie that wasn’t already in the trailer, which fooled me into wanting to see the movie. And the director previously did STRANGE WILDERNESS, the most awful movie of this or any other year.

I feel like this is one of those movies that you see, enjoy mildly, but don’t tell anyone about. Definitely a guilty pleasure. The “frigging bird” line was great, as was “The eyes are the nipples of the face.” I think it helped my enjoyment of the movie that I had plenty of drinks beforehand and saw it in a theater that was full of people who had probably just done the same.
What I really want to know is, which did you think was funnier, this film or Hamlet 2? I didn’t think Hamlet 2 very funny except for the opening commercials and the ending performance. Overall, I enjoyed House Bunny more, which surprised me, since I’m a theater person and heard Hamlet 2 was a riot. I think Anna Faris is just funnier than Steve Coogan, no matter how good or bad the material is. She has the ability to transcend the material with natural sense of humor. Mostly, I laughed at how bad House Bunny was, but there were some genuine belly laughs that were all solely due to Faris’s funniness.

Exorcist voice always made me snarf and Emma Stone’s character amused me, like when she did her ‘sexy pants.’ Not overall as funny as I’d of liked, but fine for what it was.

I went to see it with my kid brother and he was awkward-ed-out, but I thought it was cute and very funny. But I felt like the only person laughing in the theater. And Anna Faris! Who knew she could be so adorable and hillarious?
Was it only me, or did the number of times Hugh Hefner appear suprise anyone else? He was in it a LOT! (duh, movie about a playboy bunny…but still!)

Aw, that’s too bad. I went with three gay friends, and we all laughed a LOT. I thought it was a great “Legally Blond” knockoff, and Anna Faris was adorable. We have funny taste, though…we all loved “Connie & Carla”, too, and apparently we’re the only ones. LOL
