Now officially the World’s Greatest Athlete, Olympic decathlon winner Bryan Clay is also a serious Stud, as you can see by the normal, ripple-tastic press photo we received via email (left) and a gratuitous shot "from behind" (right…oh, so very right) which NBC decided to bestow upon us during the "Bryan Clay At Home" package, so to speak. It kind of looks like he’s climbing out of a pool, but Clay is actually holding a javelin there. (Like the World’s Greatest Athlete would bother to use the ladder.)
Other studs included Steve Hooker, who picked up Australia’s first Beijing track and field gold in the pole vault and is the proud owner of this hair, and the Jamaican sprinters, who set a new world record by three-tenths of a second (HUGE!) in the 4×100-meter relay. Oh and I have to ask: Is anyone buyin’ what those McDonald’s "Chicken for Breakfast" commercials are sellin’? Because…I might.

My vote is for Adam van Koeverden. Class act, proud Canadian (actually apologized into the CBC camera for not doing as well as he expected), and he’s HOT. Picture please? His picture would be a great way to end OSOTD.

His studliness increased exponentially when I saw the Johnson and Johnson commercial of him with his toddler. The Olympic profile of him at home showed his adorable kids, wife and backyard playset with appropriately “Awww” moments of them all cuddling and romping.

Matthew Mitcham for not letting the Chinese go 8-8 in diving and for being so cute when he won (he’s no Alexandre Despatie, but heck, who is!) and Adam van Koeverden for getting over his first race and getting the job done in the second.

Matthew Mitcham, no competition. I can’t wait to watch him tonight. He prevented the Chinese from going 8 for 8, had an absolutely awe-inspiring last dive, and has to have the greatest reaction of the entire Olympics. And special props to the guy for having the guts to be the only “out” male athlete in these Olympics (from my knowledge). I’m curious to see if NBC mentions that…

I concur with Bryan Clay but also concur with Matthew Mitcham. Bryan seems like a very level-headed family man and Matthew showed perseverance and modesty. Great job to you both!
Didn’t see him participate but judging by the photos here, can’t think you could find an athelete more worthy of the title, in all respects.
