I’d like to seee…
– Romeo & Juliet played by two women. (Forbidden love theme, anyone?)
– Javert from Les Miserables played by a woman.
– The brothers in Boondock Saints played by kickass sisters.
– Ed Norton’s narrator character in Fight Club played by a woman.
– Ferris Bueller played by a woman.
– The Notebook’s Noah & Allie played by two women.
– Ordinary People’s two sons as two daughters.
– More, but I’m a feminist & a lesbian so I would just go on and on beyond the character limit. ^_^
It’s a lovely question though!
Oooh…. a female version of the 40 Year Old Virgin. Talk about funny. A female James Bond would be good, too.
Just wanted to say: really, really, really, really fantastic question. And the answers are brilliant. Hollywood – are you listening??
Stop the Tom Hate!!! I do agree though that I think it would be awesome for Michelle Yoeh to play the lead for a preadator reboot.
I agree with a womens take on Superbad. It was done back in 1982 with the show Square Pegs (except for the wanting to get laid part), but the show never caught on.
Dame Judi Dench is great as “M” in the last few James Bond films. (For more women in Super-Spy roles, rent “D.E.B.S.”) And SW as Ripley is one of my favorite butt-kickin’ heroines. I’m not a fan of pothead comedies, but how come you never see a movie about two girl potheads (Jessica & Britney, perhaps?) I would suggest a western, but one “Bad Girls” was enough. Lifetime had a pretty good show a few years ago called “The District” about an all-female police squad in San Francisco, with Mad Men’s Jon Hamm as the token male. The Star Trek franchise finally had Kate Mulgrew as a captain, and I think the Seven of Nine character was like a female version of Data.
Michelle Yeoh is one of my favorite actresses. And you’re exactly right, she is criminally underused. Maybe instead of being a Bond girl, she could have played Bond himself.
What if Hannibal was played by Judi Dench?
this email is for Kate Ward – I am 53 and am enjoying the Twilight series, I have just finished reading another writer from the vampire genre who to me puts Anne Rice to shame!! Her name is L.A. Banks, she’s Afro-American and writes a heck of a great novel, this is a 12 book series and each book has been off the chain, this sister writes about vamps unlike anything anyone else has written and they are quite different more like New Jack vampires. L.A. has hisory, current events, numerolgy, Eygptology and romance, horror, action, laughter, etc., everything in her series. L.A. deserves some attention like Ms. Meyers. I love a good vampire novel, L.A. reminds me of Brian Lumley, who writes some good vamp stories as well. You should check out L.A. Banks, Vampire Huntress Series, you won’t be disappointed.
I think that a female James Bond would be very interesting, Gwyneth Paltrow could work…Though, I just cannot see her as assertive, though maybe thats because she hasn’t been given the chance to be that way…Though another suggestion for a female “Bond” could be Kate Beckinsale…She is actually English. For a female Hannibal…Judi Dench, would be amazing…Helen Mirren. I think that, If Some roles had been reversed In “Buffy” Helen Mirren would have made a great “Giles”…haha.
I’d like to see a female version of House.
A female version of Hannibal Lecter or The Joker would be nice, too. Btw, since the female character switch was demanded by Jodie Foster, a LOT of Flightplan’s problems ARE her fault, and her annoying performance is one of them.
I’d replace Sally from TCM with a guy and would like to do so with quite the number of horror movies.
The given for all of this characters is, they have to be well-written.
