Tags: ,

(This item contains SPOILERS, so proceed with caution.) Now that Breaking Dawn has broken out, and all of its shocking secrets are secret no more, we got Stephenie Meyer to sit down with us again to talk about some of the book’s more controversial aspects, including: Jacob’s imprinting on Renesmee, the details of Bella’s pregnancy, and the nature of love versus free will. Check out our 10-part series (five of which are embedded below) conducted by EW’s Alynda Wheat, and post your comments below!

Personally, I liked Breaking Dawn overall.

It’s funny sometimes, when something becomes a household name, the work begins to slide, a la Breaking Dawn.

Welcome to EW, where we’re going to turn this crap into the next Harry Potter if it takes every last bit of credibility our employees have.

I actually loved Breaking Dawn and have already watched all 10 of these (very informative) clips. She does a great job of clearing up the misconceptions of her book and I walked away being a bigger fan of both her and the series.

THANK YOU to Jeez, who just about summed up my feeling on this topic. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE EW, stop reporting on this non-event. I get it – some people dig this craptacular book series. Stop trying to make “twilight” happen! (BTW, isn’t it already a hit, which doesn’t really need all this ferosh press push on the site???)

    Terrible..terrible book.
    Goodbye EW…my friend…my brother…my son.

Oh thank god. I thought I was the only one sick to death about this book and its author. Look, I have nothing against these books since I have not read them, but for EW to act as though this is the second coming of HP is ridiculous. When the last HP book came out last year, it was all over the news and really was quite the phenomenom. When Breaking Dawn came out last week, I think the only place where I heard about it was from EW. And to think, the movie is coming out soon so you know that will be another cover and even more PW posts.

All of the Twilight books are overrated. The book is interesting at times and easy to read, but the writing is terrible and I’m sick of hearing how amazing Edward is. Blech. Give me Sirius Black any day.

EW.com is full of other items to read if Breaking Dawn doesn’t fancy your interest, so I don’t see why everyone’s complaining about its exposure. Sure, they may be overdoing it a bit, but compared to their less avoidable American Idol/SatC overexposure, it’s tolerable.
Bottom line, if you don’t want to read about it, skip the articles and interviews. Simple as that.

I really enjoyed Breaking Dawn, sure some aspects (like the pregnancy) were contradictory to ideas and mythos set up in the other novels, but overall it was entertaining, emotional, and tied up most if not all of the loose endings. She recently came out with an “adult” novel The Host that is fantastic and a real tear jerker! Although Iw ill say this, as much as I love the Twilight Saga she is not JK Rowling nor is Bella’s story close to being Harry Potter.

Sweet Fancy Moses! Enough! I wouldn’t mind so much if the movie didn’t look like crap. Harry Potter was nowhere near this forced. The Jonas Brothers feel less pre-packaged. The media isn’t supposed to generate hysteria, it’s supposed to report on it, if it happens organically. I refuse to believe that Twilight is on the same level of Harry Potter, considering this is the last book, and the first time I’ve heard of it. And I keep up on this kind of stuff.

I really don’t understand why these books generate so much hate, or why people who haven’t read them feel the need to comment constantly about their overexposure. I don’t watch American Idol, so I just skip all the countless articles, posts, etc about it. Pretty simple solution! In any case, I really enjoyed Breaking Dawn, thought it was a great ending to a terrific series, and really appreciate that EW made this interview available. Stephenie answers a lot of questions that fans care about, and I’m quite grateful.

Well, for one thing, the books are published by Little, Brown and Company, which was a subsidiary of Time Warner Book Club when the first book was published. Granted, Time Warner Book Club was purchased from Time Warner by Hachett Livre in 2006, but don’t tell me there isn’t some string pulling going on here.

I love Stephanie Meyer and the “Twilight” series. The reason I was frustrated with Breaking Dawn was because Bella was so young! One second she was obsessed with Edward and sex, and the next she was a responsible mother? It seemed like a strange change that happened too quickly. As a teen, I completely related with Bella, but her sudden mother-complex confused me. Obviously she needed to live up to her situation, but I don’t understand why she had the kid in the first place…
I felt (this is probably completely off base, but…) like Meyer was trying to impose her religion into the book, that getting married and having children right away is how life is supposed to be, even in a vampire book. The core focus of the previous three novels had been the Edward/Bella relationship (and then the triangle with Jacob), so the shift to “baby” was a little jarring. I think there could have been a great Breaking Dawn dealing with Bella’s wedding and choices about vampires, without baby…

Personally I loved Breaking Dawn. I loved how it began, the middle and the end, though sadly it was the end of the saga. I don’t know why some people thought it was odd and a large change but seriously Bella fit the role as a mother and seriously Renesmee an awesome addition to the Cullen family and I’m glad that Jacob gets to be a part of the familt too.
