LOVE DAVID and everything he puts out there! To non-fanatic David fans…this song pases the twenty something test of music lovers who like pop and consider that “deep” alt rock without a good melody doesn’t belong on the radio, especially while being stuck in traffic in NJ, lol!!
thanks so much for the wonderful review. i have been a fan of the CRUSHer since day 1 in AI and i never doubted for a moment what he is capable of doing. as paula said, he is destined for superstardom.so it was really no surprise for me that his first single is amazing. i instantly fell in love with it the first time i heard it and havent stopped listening to it since. im hooked. now i cant wait to get my hands on his cd this nov. i know it will be amazing!
Yes, even you can admit a great song when you hear one hey? Hmmmmmm. So many people will be eating their words soon. CRUSH is Amazing, and Archuleta, what can I say, you just can’t believe that a 17 year old can have that much talent and attract more than the teens and kids market?
Archuleta is an incredible voice, talent and so smart and humble and only 17. I can’t wait to see him live soon. I heard he is absolutely incredible. CRUSH is a very catchy tune and already getting a lot of attention and the single is not officially available to ITUnes until August 12. He will be breaking worldwide records with his talent. And so many people like you will be coughing up and saying, well I thought he was pretty good, when the rest of the world of all age groups believed HE IS INCREDIBLE not just pretty good. Great Job David Archuleta. Keep smiling young man you are a STAR already. YEAH!
I’m pleasantly surprised to read your review of Crush!! You were really hard on David during his run on idol, so it’s nice to see you write positive things about him & his music now. It’s a great, catchy song and should do very well on the charts. Congrats David!

CRUSH is amazinngly good. It is not just a chick song. For all of us who have trouble telling ladies that we are Crushing on them, all we have to do is play the song for them and we get our message across. Finally a nice Pop song that is so refreshing to hear without the garbage that is now popular. Tired of the Hip Hop crap out there. And I am 28 years old and straight. I like this song and Archuleta does not stop amazing us with his continued talent. AWESOME. Don’t forget to download this legally so that David can get credit for his song. Can’t wait and can’t get the song out of my head the last few days.
i am glad to read your article about the nice things you have said about david. it said to me that you realized after you met him what a nice person his. it goes to show you people shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
In terms of establishing celebrity outside of the Idol-obsessed fan base, this is probably the best post-show single since “Miss Independent”. If he can beat that song’s #9 peak on the charts, nobody should be worrying about this boy’s career.

Nice way to get digs in at David STILL! Everyone in the world knows how much you campaigned against this kid in the competition. And guess what, we all knew he was a good kid, we didn’t need your bad interview with him to point that out.

As a longtime EW reader, I was so disappointed when you seasoned entertainment reporters over there completely failed to acknowledge the immense talent and, as you now admit, charm of David Archuleta. Before your interview with him, I found your comments often downright mean. I hope you will now enjoy his brilliant talents as much as we fans do. (See him live, as we in Toronto were so lucky to have done, and you’ll get goosebumps, my friend.)
Wow! Slezak, I am proud of you–finally coming around to see what so many of DA’s fans have seen all along–a very endearing young man with a ton of talent. Makes me believe that goodness wins over cynicism….
I think this is a great 1st release for David. His vocals are spot on, its Pop/R&B sound will appeal to his age group and older fans. Its theme is timeless. It is catchy and great for the radio.
His voice is layered and harmonized throughout which is enough for us VOICE addicts at this point. His album will give us an assortment of songs to appease his diverse fan base.
Great review Slezak and thanks for stepping up and reviewing with a fresh look after the AI season. It is great that a highly visible non-David fan during AI, would take a look at a post AI release letting go of prior judgments.
Besides his rare talent and kind and humble character, his ability to learn and assimilate experiences at a quantum pace, is absolutely stunning. I can only imagine his artistry in the years to come!
