Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse weren’t expected to reveal much of anything about the upcoming season at their Comic-Con panel Saturday; production on the drama won’t begin for another three weeks in Hawaii and the writers are typically loathe to give spoilers away, anyway. Still, the duo didn’t disappoint. They immediately took questions from the audience and gave Lost memorabilia to anyone who made it up to the microphone. Besides handing out nifty prizes like an autographed life jacket and a T-shirt that read, "I asked a question about Richard Alpert and all I got was this lousy T-shirt," the producers did offer up a few tidbits about the coming year. Jin and Locke will appear in one form or another, Rousseau’s story will finally be told, and Walt’s dog Vincent will stage a comeback (some fan, in fact, actually inquired about the dog’s status before asking about any human characters). Oh, and Lindelof insisted that the Island did not move in the season 2 finale. Matthew Fox (pictured) showed up, too, mostly to glad-hand a fan and smile pretty for the room (and he did look mighty pretty).
The panel then took an odd turn when a pudgy, red-faced "recruit" from the Dharma Initiative bounded on stage to report that he just captured secret video from Dharma’s Comic-Con booth. It featured Lost character Dr. Marvin Candle admitting to the camera that his real name was Chang, he was a professor from Ann Arbor, Mich., and that he was about to fall victim to a "violent purge" that he’s "powerless to escape" (translation: he’s dead now, folks). Candle’s purpose for the video? He wanted to say his research on the Island was valid so the "Dharma Initiative should be reconstituted."

I want that t-shirt! Off I go to CafePress to see if someone has already created a replica!
Oh, and yea for Lost!
Lindelof said the island didn’t move in the Season 2 finale when Desmond blew up the hatch. It did move (is some manner) in the season four finale.
Is it JANUARY yet?!?
Lynette you ignorant s1ut. “some fan, in fact, actually inquired about the dog’s status” Well, duh!
I wonder why they would make a point of saying Locke would “appear”. He may have been in the coffin at the end but a lot of time passed between leaving the island and that funeral.
Also – don’t go dissing Matthew Fox. He can gladhand me anytime.
I was at this panel. Lindelof did NOT say the island didn’t move in the finale. He answered this question from a fan: “When the hatch imploded, did the island move just like in the finale?” To which Lindelof answered, “No.”
Uh… Could we get someone who watches this show to give us the first news since radio silence began after the finale? The island didn’t move? Lynette, you are a tool.
cooooooool…
Well Matthew Fox gladhand me anytyme, but Josh Holloway gladhand me more!
It turns out that Jack and Sawyer are hot for each other and kick Kate to the curb.
Where’s Doc Jensen?!
He’s there- he’s just abandoned us for The Watchmen. We now get stuck with someone who cannot remember what was said, unless it has to do with the dog.
What is Comic-Con all about if not glad-handing?
Wow, I’m disgusted at a lot of you rude responders. Okay, so Lynette slightly misinterpreted what Lidelof said, but that doesn’t give you the right to call her an ignorant s*ut or a tool. Why do you guys have to be so hell bent against any EW writer that covers Lost outside Jensen? Whitney P. and Hannah may have not been my select choices for recappers either but they deserved a better reception than the majority of you gave them. Replies like this is what makes most non-Lost viewers despise us.
To Chris Kw and Brad, thank you for clarifying Lindelof’s statement without resorting to unneeded pettiness.
t3hdow – You said it well. I have always been appalled at the rudeness exhibited by some people on the LOST comments, especially as you said, when the article is written by someone other than Jensen. Grow up, people. I love LOST as much as the next person, but it’s a TV show, for crying out loud.
To be fair, “you ignorant slvt” is from an old Saturday Night Live sketch, and may have been meant playfully.
I am totally with ya Stefi !Check out the Miley Cyrus covered TV guide for a picture (very hot I might add) of Josh’s add forDavidoff Cool Water mens cologne.Evangeline is the womens line model
“Oh, and Lindelof INSISTED that the Island did not move in the finale”…… Sorry guys, I don’t mean to be rude, but that is a HUGE mistake. Not a minor detail which was misunderstood. When I read what Lindelof supposedly said I was w/ my mouth open and I felt cheated. Thks God this is a blog and I read 2 people who put it clear. Sometimes Jensen gets in the board and answers some questions. Lynnette could get in and say “Sorry, I misinterpreted Lindelof’s words”. Could work.
My guess is that the island stayed in the same location, but jumped forward in time.
hell yeah! Ann Arbor!
Also, I can’t wait for Rousseau’s story.
I can’t believe the rudeness either. Get a life people.
FYI, kids, it’s fixed in the main entry now.
I thought the article said Lindeloff said the island didn’t move after Season TWO finale (not this past Season 4) – as in when Desmond blew up the hatch? (My reaction to that was – ok, I didn’t think it did, but maybe other people did.)
Anonymous: When I posted earlier, the article said: “Oh, and Lindelof insisted that the Island did not move in the finale”. Now, it says: “Oh, and Lindelof insisted that the Island did not move in the season 2 finale”. It’s ok what they did, now, the quote is accurate. Maybe Lynette talked about season 2 finale, and she corrected the writing.
For all of you Lostie haters out there, it matters what is reported and people who rely on this reporting have a reason to be upset. This wasn’t a matter of her saying that Locke’s shirt was blue in the finale, when it was actually another color. What she said Lindelof insisted upon would have totally changed the history of the show. If the writer of any article misrepresents what was said, it matters and that author had better be ready to defend herself. Plus, people crack on Jensen a lot when he gets things wrong, so this is nothing new. Watchers of Lost who want good reports of Comic-Con, and then are upset about being mislead, shouldn’t garner such animosity from the lot of you.
Oh I have the most glorious theory based on that new video.
I submit that Daniel is the voice behind the camera, therefore he is ageless like Richard and he was at one time part of the Dharma initiative. While on the island he had a family most notably a baby girl named Charlotte!
DUN DUN DUUUUUN
Come read the whole story on my blog: http://ncjl.wordpress.com/2008/07/28/ssdc-09-daniel-charlottes-father/
Rousseau! Finally!
The island might not have moved at the end of the season 2 finale, but I think the Hatch did. Also, if the iland moved back in time 30 years that could be Daniel providing Chang/Candle with the info of our present
Izi: Another coincidence: Faraday studied in Oxford, and Ben said Charlotte was borned in Oxford, England.
To geekie:
1) Why do you assume anyone who doesn’t watch Lost hates it? They might be intrigued by the show, but find it too tiring to follow. It’s not a show for everybody and I’m willing to respect TV viewers who don’t watch because they either can’t keep up with it or can’t get into the premise.
2) I didn’t say you didn’t have the right to be critical, even with Jensen. All I’m saying is don’t act like a vilifying jerk. At least Lynette corrected it now, so there’s no issue anymore.
