Not a remake, not a sequel, Lionsgate and MarvelStudio’s new Punisher: War Zone looks to do the samefor Frank Castle as the recent Hulk did for olBruce Banner. The only difference is, unfortunately, that at this point, War Zone kind of looks, well, bad.
Now played by Ray Stevenson (2004’s Punisher movie starred Thomas Jane), Frank Castle is back in New York, and smack dab in the middle of a turf war started by the grotesqueJigsaw (Dominic West). Yet despite the fact that the folks behind the film repeatedly promised the audience thatthis Punisher reboot will play to the fanboys — the story is based on Garth Ennis’work; there’ll be cameos by comic-fan favorites Microchip, MartinSoap and Budiansky; the look will closely resemble Tim Bradstreet’s artwork; and, as producer Gale Anne Hurde put it, there will be "ruthless,ultra-violent, vigilante justice" — the clips shown here at Comic-Con failed to inspire.
Maybe it’s the newly cut, candy-colored teaser theyshowed us — Frank looked great…it was everyone and everything aroundhim that was questionable — or maybe my geek hackles were raised at theproducers’ tired insistence that everything we saw wasstraight out of the comic. From the badly situated press section, wherethe podium not only obscured Hurde’s face, but partof the projection screen as well, you could’ve fooled me.
The weird angles, the super-saturated colors, and the stilteddialog combined to leave me feeling deflated: I wanted to get stupdily excited forthis film, both as a comic geek, and a TV snob who wants TitusPullo and Detective McNulty to get the financial and critical success they deserve.

I’d probalby watch anyway just for Ray Stevenson whom I loved in Rome and Babylon Fields (a great pilot that never made it).
It looks like one of those 90’s straight to video Dolph Lundgren/Jeff Speakman flicks, and no, not in a good way.

This guy sounds like a condescending dick wad. All i have to say is Welcome Back Frank and i hope that Ray Stevenson shows Frank justice. Unlike Dolph who made him look like a fool. I hope that this series is captured and we get some sequels.

The trailer for this film looks pretty awful. I won’t be seeing this one. (Also, I prefer Thomas Jane.)
Both Stevenson and West are good, but neither are movie stars. People can decry and deride actual stars all they want but face it you need at least one to carry a picture. They would have been doing West and Stevenson a favor if they would have surrounded them with at least one major star to inject the movie with some energy and larger appeal.
You talk as if this movie is going to be picked up by the academy. This trailer shoots straight to the point of what this movie is all about. He kills a ton of people because his family is murdered, and it looks to be extremely brutal this go round. Stevenson looks just like Ennis’ Punisher. It looks better than the previous two, which were complete crap, and that alone makes me feel better about this film.

The R-rated footage for this movie blew me away. The violence surpasses even Rambo. As a die hard Punisher fan, I am incredibly psyched about this movie. I have no idea what this guy expected, but this looks like the Punisher all the hardcore fans want.
I agree, the trailer looks rather… jumbled and pointless. Putting a bunch of shots of people shooting/being shot with some bad music over it doesn’t make a good trailer, and it doesn’t give me any confidence for this movie. I’m going to need to see a lot more effort from the filmmakers before this goes on my viewing list, no matter what the rabid foaming at the mouth fanboys say.
Just like Hulk and Fantastic Four, when Marvel fails, they just try try again.
And just like the new movies, it will only be marginally better, but still won’t be anything special.

This movie looks like they cut apart the comic and pasted all the violent scenes together with no story connecting them. Congrats on catering to the lowest common denominator Marvel. When the lead actor walks away and the screenwriter asks his name to NOT be attached to a film, it’s not going to be good people. Sorry.
The comic-con video clip looked pretty damn promising. To those calling for Marvel to stop trying to make a Punisher Movie, if you don’t like it, don’t freaking watch it. This looked pretty promising.

I like the Punisher just as equally as all marvel crime fighting characters. Why I know I would like this movie because it is treated just like other marvel comic movies. Some people keeps whining that the movie is lacking this, that, or whatever. How would this movie be any different from other marvel comic movies. What is it you people are expecting. There are millions of movies & nothing is ever 100%. I liked to see this movie as long as the Punisher kicks ass just like other marvel heroes. No need for anything fancy. No need to explain that Punisher can do this because he’s navy seal, marine, FBI, DEA, policeman, etc. Wow this can go on forever. I’m happy enough that Punisher kicks ass just like other heroes, even he’s just armed with a hand gun. Like Rambo can kick ass just armed with a knife.

I thought this movie was the best punisher movie of all 3. The action and little drama was awsome and great. The movie was a gore fest from beginning to end in every big battle. My 2 favorite parts of the movie are when punisher kills the mob family at the beginning and when he blows the head off the guy in the dead cop’s house with the shotgun.
