I believe that the Oscars are prestigious awards, given to the most talented film artists. The fact that most of those artists are not involved in pop-blockbusters goes to show the relatively unbiased nature of the awards committee.
Ledger did a good job as the Joker, but no better than Philip Seymour Hoffman in his portrayal of Father Flynn in Doubt. I’m not sure why everyone thinks that acting awards need to be given out to the actors in the years most popular movies. The awards are ideally about talent, not about popularity. If the awards committee gives Ledger the award based purely on the popular success of The Dark Knight, they are not doing their job.
That being said, I think Ledger did a wonderful job as the Joker and deserves the award as much as any actor this year.
Heath Ledger put in a fantastical performance as the joke. It isn’t about the popularity of the film or boosting ratings which I believe is the reason why he’s most likely to be nominated for best supporting actor but the amazing performance he actually gave as an actor. It is definately the greatest blockbuster superhero movie of our time.
I think, he must win Oscar..Because he was a great actor and he played on his own and charisma.

Heath is without a doubt an Oscar winner for his role at the Joker. And he should have won for the role of Ennis Del Mar in “Brokeback Mountain.” Just the range between those two parts is beyond compare.

I think Heath deserve an oscar, the dark knight is my personal al time favourite and i also think that the oscar award should also bring the great blockbuster movies, so people can easier relate to the award ceromony.
