I could never figure out the sex of the lead singer of Technotronic… in fact I’m still not sure.
I was also amazed to learn the song “Automatic” was the Pointer Sisters, I would have bet anything that was a dude singing.
More recently, I listened to the Mars Volta’s album “De-Loused in the Comatorium” for about a year before I realized the lead singer was a man.
I love the song, Mary Did You Know, during Christmas, but I thought the version with Wynonna Judd and Kenny Rogers was really Kenny Rogers and Kenny Loggins…
i too swore AUTOMATIC was sung by a man when I was in high school. As for Technotronic I think I heard she is a woman, I’m thinking she’s a butch
There is an Eagles song from the seventies called “I Can’t Tell You Why.” For a long time I thought it was Carole King.
I too had thought Billie Myers was a man at first. But then I also thought, Usher was a group and that Pink was black! LOL!
