You remember how it works: We embed a song. You namethe film that song was used in. Everyone who answers correctly feelsgood about themselves.
The song is "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" by Doris Day. (Hint: In the video clip below, it’s set to scenes from the 1962 Doris Day-Cary Grant film That Touch of Mink; the movie we’re looking for was released in 1992.)
The answer, after the bounce.
Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom

I love this movie!! Brilliant!
Damn. I’ve never seen this movie and always debated renting it. After that charged scene, you can bet it’ll be on the tv this weekend.
strictly ballroom!!!!! love love love this movie.
And not that you asked, but Wong Kar-Wai used Nat “King” Cole’s Spanish-language version (“Quizas, Quizas, Quizas”) in IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE.
The band Cake did a version of this on one of their albums and it was featured in the movie “Me, Myself, and Irene” in 2000, I think.
Didn’t know the movie, but it was used as the theme song for the BBC series “Coupling.”
It was also the theme to the British Coupling.
Hmm, and I was thinking Almodóvar’s “Bad Education.”
I was thinking “tortilla Soup”. But then again, they sing the original song “quizas quizas quizas”. But since the movie’s a remake of an Ang Lee flick, I guess we’re up to our knees in covers today…
BTW the baddest version of that song’s by Cake and I listen to it every single day. It’s my favorite song of all time (in original Spanish or in English, it’s been covered like 1000 times)
No one does absurdist romantic comedy like Bahz. I loved this movie as a kid.
“Strictly Ballroom” is a true classic from the ’90s — I urge anyone who hasn’t seen it to rent it immediately!! I think I’ve seen it 10 or 11 times (seriously) and enjoyed each and every viewing.
Aw, man, you can NOT forget “The Man Who Knew Too Much” when you mention this song. The movie depended on it! (God bless Doris!)
