In my ongoing mission to examine all the ways that our love of pop culture makes imprints on our lives — and to populate PopWatch on a slow news day — I’m issuing a spot inspection of your computer desktop. What image have you selected to stare at when you don’t have six windows open? (For me, that’s approximately 30 seconds a day, so Gale Harold, tiled, should not be at all freaked out by this.)
Your turn.

X-Files 2 Wallpaper! CANNOT.WAIT for this movie.
bjork. volta album cover. ’nuff said.
I have a shot of Old Faithful erupting that my husband took on a trip to Yellowstone.
Sorry, no pop culture background…just the most awesome picture of my son playing in the sprinkler for the first time. Seriously, this picture could be in a magazine. Hey EW, need any “cute kid” pics?
Mine is a mock-Absolut Vodka ad, with a Dharma logo on the bottle and the words “ABSOLUT LOST” at the bottom. I love it!
On my work computer I have a spoof motivational poster about working hard with photos/quotes from Arrested development. When I come in and log in each morning. angry that its so early. I get a little laugh and can settle into my day.
Mine is David Tennant’s Hamlet promo picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v137/StrangeBlaze/DW/vowrp5.jpg (hope you guys can see that) I suppose it reminds me of what I will sadly, never see.
At work: A picture of my then 2-month old nephew just hangin’ on the couch.
Home: Right now a pic of Wonder Woman by Alex Ross.
A pair of Christian Louboutin pumps…a girl can dream.
A self-made Shia Labeouf wallpaper. Just can’t get enough of The Beef.
My own, violently-stretched rectum
The extent of my fangirlness is revealed…my desktop on my work computer is David Cook (which is nice if I need a pick-me-up during the day). My laptop at home is of the Idol Season 7 top 12 at the finale after David Cook won and he was singing and he motioned for all of them to come join him (so sweet!). I never got into Idol until this season, and now I’m too obsessed.
At home I’ve got a picture of my new Toyota Prius. At work I’ve got a tropical paradise…a girl can dream, can’t she?
Simon Pegg. http://pics.livejournal.com/overthemoo/pic/00003tp0
At work – nothing but the upiquitous windows icon.
At home? A picture of North America during the August ‘03 blackout from space at night.
The poster to “In Bruges” with Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson & Ralph Fiennes since I live, in fact, in… Bruges
“Shoot first, sightsee later”
Home: A fan made collage of Kara (Katee Sackhoff) and Lee (Jamie Bamber) from Battlestar Galactica.
Work: A Viper from BSG.
Cell Phone: Jamie Bamber in nothing but a towel, baby!
Home is a montage of Keith Haring’s various dog drawings and work is Donald Duck from Disneyland in a kung fu pose (he was goofing around with my boyfriend and I got the perfect shot).
One of the wallpapers for the new season of Psych. (The first one in the queue.)

Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum in various performance shots.
The cover of the new The Hold Steady album, Stay Positive. Really great picture and a cool infinity/plus graphic in the middle.
The real lake where Monet painted Water Lilies. It was pop culture in the 19th century, does that count?
A Valentine’s Day themed The Office wallpaper. Yeah Valentine’s Day was months ago and I don’t even like the holiday but who ever designed it did a great job.
Mine is the new poster for the spirit that features Scarlette Johannson and the words “on your knees then” it’s really cool looking
At work? A picture the Mediterranean at sunrise from the shores of Barcelona. At home? A collage of my three fave Brit actors du jour: Richard Armitage, Matthew Macfadyen and Rupert Penry Jones. Swoon.
A picture of the sign from the Palms Casino taken during last year’s VMA’s that says “Featuring Britney Spears”. Little did I know the trainwreck going on inside…
work: my own photoshop creation of a tree frog peeking out from behind a leaf
home: Josh Holloway from ‘LOST’looking all kinds of yummy *sigh*
My parents celebrated their 40th anniversary and I have a picture my brothers with their kids and wife and I took with them. It’s just real rare we’re together looking really nice.
At work: a really cool shot of my best friend looking out at the water at Newport Beach (while completely unaware that I was taking his picture).
Laptop: the same friend and I doing a “Thelma and Louise” shot, also at Newport Beach (I want to get the picture framed, so this is a placeholder until then).
Previously, I’ve had Friday Night Lights (Riggins, Saracen, Smash and Street walking out onto the field) at work, and the cast of Spring Awakening’s Gap ad (too cute) at home. Before THAT, my laptop featured a behind-the-scenes shot from the forthcoming film adaptation of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.
I have two screens at work, both change wallpaper images every 15 minutes. The pics are all of family, mostly my daughter, participating in a wide variety of sports.
