Nothing brings friends together like team torture.
Seriously, this just one example of Firefly‘s masterful writing: Even though the dialogue has Mal all but threatening Wash at every turn, we can tell that Mal is keeping him angry to keep him alive. (And the performances don’t hurt, either.)

These Friday Firefly clips almost help get the weekend started. Keep ‘em coming!
I just watched this episode last night and I’m about half way through the commentary with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk. Love Firefly Fridays!
Watched this episode in HD last week on the Uni-HD channel and I miss this show so much. “Trash” is on this week and that should be fun too. I also love the fact that EW wants to see Serenity back on the big screen because I do too. I’m going to catch me a Can’t Stop The Serenity screening when one comes to my area but I’d prefer even more to see Serenity 2. Hear me Hollywood? I’ve got you money right here in my pocket. Not going to miss Serenity 2 when it hit theaters. So if you make it… I will come.
Firefly Fridays ARE great.
But you know what’d be greater, Marc? If you acknowledged the boneheaded/mind-boggling decision to put Jurassic Park (and a few others) on that “Sci-Fi” misfire list from a few days ago. (Sorry, I could neither resist, nor let you off the hook quite that easily.)
Still, by all means…keep Firefly Fridays coming. I never watched the show when it was on, and my only exposure has actually been through these clips. I know it’s silly and I’ll get off my butt and get the DVD or watch it on Hulu one day.
sigh. what a perfect way to start my day.
The only problem with Firefly Fridays is that I get the urge to continue watching the rest of the episode after seeing the clip.
firefly friday isn’t much to me as hulu doesn’t stream outside the U.S., but since i own the series it doesn’t matter, and i do like seeing what the pick of the week is. “war stories” is a bright shiny episode. too bad whedon’s overinflated sense of self-importance and influence brought down yet another solid show.
Okay I just watched Firefly for the first ever (thank you Hulu!) and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to see it. I’m now obsessed.
My Fridays are not complete without my Firefly Friday fix. Dang, I think I’ve know what I’m doing this weekend, anyone up for a marathon?
‘whedon’s overinflated sense of self-importance and influence brought down yet another solid show’? Could you expand that because I recall it was FOX’s playing musical chairs with the show and not promoting it properly is what cancelled the show.
Take me sir. Take me hard.
Great passion in that scene. :->
Love Firefly Fridays, as always. It’s even better when it’s a double shot of Firefly. I’m catching a Can’t Stop The Serenity showing here in Tucson, so I can finally see it in the theater (yep, that was my quote about wanting to see Serenity in the recent “wish we could see it on the big screen” gallery).
OH! You cut it off right before the best line from Jayne: Hey! Free soup!
Alan Tudyk = so underrated! He was brilliant in ‘War Stories’; he totally broke through any comedic relief barrier (if there ever was one…I didn’t think so). and Mal. Always shiny, that Mal. I loved seeing Wash and Mal together, and talking about Zoe. You KNOW you wonder sometimes…
The thing that make Jayne’s “free soup” line hilarious is the oblivious slap in the captain’s sore chest.
