Our song at prom was–here’s a shocking choice–Graduation by Vitamin C. The song they forced us to do at graduation was I won’t Back Down or whatever the hell it’s called from Tom Petty and those old guys that all got together in that band that time. I graduated in 2000. We soo wanted Good Riddance (Time of Your life) but the admin didn’t want it. Even though we all despised each other………

Yep, ours was also Party like it’s 1999. Completely lame. I hate that song, and I am sure I’ll hear it again at our reunion this June. Also, that Baz Luhrmann “Trust me on the Sunscreen” song was a big deal at our graduation. I think the teacher the students selected to give a speech quoted that instead of writing her own speech.

Copy that Jo. I’d really like to see some real role models for young adults these days…unfortunately, the only starlets who get famous enough to have an influence on teens only got famous from family connections and do virtually nothing with the influence they have.

I saw this episode and the whole time she spent using it to promote herself and making herself the center of the prom instead of being respectful to the students who actually go the that school. It’s pretty sad, but needless to say, I won’t be buying any of her cds.

2007–Junior prom. It was raining pretty hard so our DJ played “It’s Raining on Prom Night” from “Grease” as a joke. Nobody (especially all the girls and the seniors) thought it was funny. Our theme was Arabian Nights, so our theme song was “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin.”
2008–Senior prom. Our theme was Minutes ‘Til Midnight, our song–”So Close” from “Enchanted.” I was dateless, so the prom king shared the big dance with me. Him going out of his way like that was such a nice surprise and I was so happy I got all teary. Best prom memory of all

Do you realize that “We’ve Got Tonight” is a song about a one night stand? Is that really what the prom organizers intended.
Anyone, how could someone pick the Kenn Rogers/Sheena Easton version when Bob Seger’s original is a classic.
BTW, mine was Diana Ross’ Do You Know Where You’re Going To. Snooze.
