JoeC,
I once drank a Mr. Pibb while on a vacation in Lancaster, PA. It tasted like a milder version of DR. Pepper Mello Yello still exists too.

One thing I noticed from the show is that the actors aren't as "cut" as they are now.
Fun part of the show is looking for an anachronism.

I was a teen in the 80s but I do remember the 70s well. Second greatest decade ever! (after the 80s). I never did drink Tab, my family was sold on the “rent a soda” places. I don’t know if it was just a Canadian thing or a more local Western Canadian thing but we would always get our soft drinks from Pic-A-Pop, The Pop Shoppe and Mister Soft Drink. Basically they would give you a crate that would hold 24 bottles and you would choose different flavours of pop. They had some pretty gnarly flavours, like, Pineapple, Black Cherry and my favourite, Lime Ricky. They also had their Coke and Hires ripoffs as well. Im sure one of the places had a drink called Dr. Popper which tasted a lot like, yep, Dr. Pepper

TOO funny reading these, love it (watching Swingtown bringing it all back). I had the Farrah do and as my sister's hair was too straight for it, she had to settle for the Dorothy Hamill cut. She envied and hated me for my swingy Farrah hair while she essentionally looked like she had a bowl on her head! LOL, we still laugh about it today. Oh, and does anybody remember those "Tony" home perms? Poor sister-straight-hair had to suffer through those too! Lucky me, I later graduated to a Valerie Bertanelli, One Day At A Time do!

My grandmother would drink Tab and my mother consumed massive amounts of Diet Rite (8-pack bottles, of course). I grew up in Chicago - so I would drink Jewel's brand - Yummy Pop. My faves were grape and strawberry. Such strong memories of gulping that stuff down after playing outside during hot summer nights. Other product brand memories - Tickle deodorant, Short & Sassy and Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific hair care, Underalls, Holly Hobby everything, etc. I could go on forever. I remember spending hours in front of the mirror trying to perfect that feathered hair. Hopefully I can catch Swingtown On Demand - so upset I missed it.
Oh - another thing I don't think is around anymore. I accidently found my dad's box of girlie magazines - one of them being "Oui". Is that still published?

I was born in 64, so the 70's was an interesting decade in which to grow up. I remember the 4th of July being a VERY big deal, as I grew up in Arlington VA, right across the river from D.C. Everything was red, white and blue. I remember seeing one of the most ugly vehicles ever concieved by mankind, the Pacer, all decked out in patriotic colors, inside and out. The fashions sucked (I happily embraced the New-Wave Era) and the television was sending mixed messages to kids my age via Three's Company: See them jiggle on TV, but don't DO what you see on TV etc. Awfully confusing time, I must say.

Silv, thanks for the info. And, I must agree that the researcher for the show is bad. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" was released in 1977, and Rita Colidge's version of Jackie Willson's "Higher and Higher" was also released in 1977. The show takes place in 1976.

Born in 1971 and thus old enough to have drunk Tab, sat in the smoking section of an airplane, and gotten lost on the Mall in DC on July 4, 1976, where the Bicentennial really was a big deal. My parents didn't take 'ludes or wife-swap, though.
