FNL in every category, Robert Sean Leonard, Yunjin Kim.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Brothers and Sisters get nominated in every conceivable category. Sally Fields and Rachel Griffiths (rightly) get a lot of attention, but Matthew Rhys and Ron Rifkin deserve it this year too. And the writing. Maybe they should create a special “Outstanding Achievement in the Field of General Awesomeness” Emmy and disqualify B&S from the other categories to pass the love around a little bit…
Sarah C: I’m totally with you on The Wire. But I’m sure we’ll be disappointed again. I think Jonathan Rhys Myers for the Tudors is a good pick. Here’s why: 1) I never really liked him as an actor; 2) He’s playing one of the most deplorable figures in history; 3) he looks nothing like Henry VIII; and 4) despite all this, I find him completely mesmerizing and believable in this role.
Speaking of which, where is The Tudors recap, please???
For best guest appearance: definitely Anne Dudek for the season finale of House. She was outstanding all season, but her facial expressions in that last episode were a master class in acting. She probably only had a few minutes of actual screen time, but her performance haunted me for days.
I second Anne Dudek.
Jon Hamm
“That helicoptor scene” – no sh!t!! That tore my heart out. She was so amazing.
“The Constant” was an amazing episode. Not only did it make time travel a non-crosseyed-inducing subject, it made it romantic. Brilliant. And BSG is the best show ever.
But the one nominee that I need to see? Neil Patrick Harris. Because he’s legen . . . .
The Wire and The Shield are the two most critically underappreciated series around and should get the credit they deseve. Show some love, I mean, REALLY!!!
That’s easy…Tudors and FNL. Both of those shows really get to me, the acting is incredible!! Doesn’t matter what category…lol.
Michael Emerson on “Lost” – Brilliant, genius
Yunjin Kim on “Lost” – for that helicopter scene alone
“Lost” the show – been snubbed the past few years, and it’s time for it to be nominated again!
“The Office” – Best comedy, obviously
Steve Carell on “The Office” – A gigantic crime that he’s never won
Hugh Laurie on “House” – again, a gigantic crime that he’s never won
Rainn Wilson on “The Office” – Totally nails everything he does
Jenna Fischer on “The Office” – Ditto
Chi McBride on “Pushing Daisies” – Fantastic comic timing
David Tennant on “Doctor Who” – A long shot, but Tennant is truly marvelous as The Doctor; he IS that show
Kyle Chandler
Ed Helms needs to receive a best supporting actor nomination for his work on this past season of the office. I mean just his performance in the local ad episode – brilliant!
Kyle Chandler – Connie Britton FNL
Jay Karnes, CCH Pounder – The Shield
Bryan Cranston – Breaking Bad
Kristen Chenowith – Pushing Daisies
Jill Clayburgh, Glenn Fitzgerald – Dirty Sexy, Money
The Wire, Damages
-Alec Baldwin for the 30 Rock episode, Rosemary’s Baby.
-Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler in FNL with guest star noms for Liz Mikel and Brad Leland.
-Yunjim Kim, Michael Emerson and Henry Ian Cusick in Lost with guest noms for Lance Riddick, Jeremy Davies and Sonya Walger. The Constant the best episodes of television this year.
-The Wire
-Lee Pace in Pushing Daisies.
-Melora Hardin in The Office.
Yes! David Tennant needs to be nominated (and win) for “Doctor Who”. He’s brilliant. “Doctor Who” should definitely also be nominated for best television show (probably drama).
