It’s true, y’all. At least according to Evite, which claims more invitations will have been sent through the site for pre- or post- Sex and the City screening parties than for watching last February’s Oscars, usually its biggest entertainment-related draw of the year. Evite says it’s helped plan around 14,000 SATC parties and that the average guest list is about 20 people. (They also have some party tips — like repurposing the nine upscale variations on pigs in a blanket they suggested for your Super Bowl soirée into a culinary tribute to the show’s fifth lady, New York, which is famous for her hot dogs. Ha!)
So, have you made any unabashedly cliché special plans surrounding the movie? We won’t judge them. And neither will your fellow P-Dubs. (Wink.)

Saw it yesterday! Not that original idea, but we had a girls night out, we dressed up to look glamourous, had Cosmo at a fabulous roof terrace and than it was followed by the movie!
Mine’s not terribly original either. Dinner and then the movie with 4 other girlfriends. We might dress up, we haven’t decided yet.
drinks, dinner, movie. NO dressing up – although have seen it on local TV news. All the shows at the cineplex are sold out for 2nite – can’t wait!
Saturday matinee + dinner at the Melting Pot = one fabulous early birthday!
PF Chang’s for dinner and cocktails, and the movie with two other ladies and our gay male pal–he’s our “Stanford” for the night!
Yeah I got an invite from a friend for a SATC party, but me and my best friends are getting dinner and seeing the movie tonight. Don’t know where we’re hitting up dinner or if we’re dressing up. I have a feeling I’m gonna want to punch a lot of girls tonight at the theater. Every girl there will be talking back and forth with their friends and I’ll have two choices. Punch them in the face to shut them up or talk way louder.
LMAO~ Of course. . .it will be 4 women and 4 gay men!!!
We will be having dinner and cosmos b4 going to the showing that night!
I hope its the best SEX ive had in a while!!!
Yes, incredibly cliche and unoriginal, but my girls and I got dressed to the nines, went to dinner, had cosmos, and saw the movie last night. It was a fabulous evening. There were about three guys in the entire theatre.
I had an event two weeks ago…a SATC Slumber Party! Us gals dressed up, drank Cosmos, and watch all of Season 6 in preparation of the movie. It was fabulous!
I’m going to not try to trip socialites for one night.
I was in a theatre tonight packed with 500 women in dresses, same for the bar before the movie, every group of girls were doing the same thing, cocktails.
Yeah, it’s cliche, but really, it’s SatC, you have to.
My friend & I had planned since the release date was announced to see it opening night with giant thermoses of smuggled cosmos! It was the best night I’ve had in a long time!
This isn’t too crazy but six of my female co-workers and me went out for drinks (cosmos of course!) and dinner last night before we saw the movie. While the movie was in the B range for me the atmosphere in the theatre and beforehand waiting in line for good seats is pretty much indescribable. All I could think about was: this is why DVDs and On-demand will never out shadow the movie going experience. People laughed, cheered, cried, yelled out in protest, gasped horrifically and sang along with exuberance in the theatre and I was totally caught up in it.
I want to see Slezak write a full review. I thought that all in all, the movie was terrible, although I did laugh at the scene where Carrie is watching Judy sing “Clang, Clang, Clang Went the Trolley”. Tres gay!
My girlfriends and I are planning to see it, probably next weekend. We’ll probably wear sensible suburban mom slides instead of Manolos, but we’ll definitely go for drinks before or afterwards. I’m not sure what you can do around SATC that’s not cliche…unless it’s have a tacky purse party, dye your nether regions hair or go “massager” shopping at Brookstone…
