Michael Ausiello is coming to EW!

Categories: Television, Web/Tech

Michaela_lWell, the news is out: Longtime TV Guide all-star Michael Ausiello is joining the EW team. Starting July 2, Ausiello will be doing lots of writing for EW.com, as well as a weekly column for the TV section of EW’s print edition. Let’s give him a warm PopWatch welcome — and start thinking of topics you’d like to see him cover with his brand of witty, informative television reporting and commentary.

Yay! As a dedicated Aushole, I’m so excited!! I loved his TV Guide columns, so I know he’ll be a welcome addition to the EW family!

  • Snarf

Welcome aboard! Please feel free to obsess about the following (in no paticular order) Lost, Supernatural, Brothers & Sisters, Terminator TSCS, Chuck, Fringe (gut feeling here – we may have a winner) Heroes, House, DH and Dollhouse.

  • Chaddogg

I want one thing and one thing only, please: Doc and Aus’s Lostology, a weekly vidcast airing before and after each new Lost episode (a la Idolatry, which was hands down awesome…)
Seeing Jensen’s evil-conspiracy mind and Ausiello’s snarky scoop co-mingle in vlog form? Count me in….

  • Torin

I don’t really care what Ausiello covers, I just hope it’s similar to what he did at TV Guide. He was about 99.9% of the reason that I religiously visited their website everyday.

  • funkymono

Major score for EW. Congrats to you all, and welcome to Michael!

  • Dominique L.

Well, at least he’s coming somewhere familiar :)

  • B Ro

Please make sure he brings his Ask Ausiello column over, or at least a version of it–it’s mandatory weekly reading!

  • karen b

Aushole in da house! As long as the spoilers are fresh, snarky, and smurfy I am all good!!! (But the more DH, GA, UB, HIMYM scoop the better!)

  • NineDaves

welcome michael. i hope this doesn’t mean you’re replacing dawnie though (sorry, that idolatry dawnie “don’t leave” still has me worried).

  • Stef

Wow great news! Welcome Michael! Way to bring one of my favorite tv writers over to my favorite magazine!

  • Ibis1996

This is great news, but how am I supposed to make it through June without without any Ausiello?

  • pirate

Great addition to the EW family, and welcome. I too can call myself an Aushole as I visit his column on tvguide each day. A great idea would be Ask Mike & Mike a column similar to Ask Ausiello, but w/ Michael Slezak.

  • meg

    sweeeet.

  • Applejax

Please tell me there will be an Ask Ausiello on this site every Wednesday?!!

  • MrKitty

Chaddog – you have hit upon a wonderful idea!

  • meredith

I freaked out when I found out he was leaving TV Guide, but then I found out he was going to be here, and all was right with the world again. Yay Michael!

  • Lindsay

Finally, the spheres of the (pop culture) universe are in harmony.
Also, my pre-work morning internet routine now includes one-less snark stop.

Welcome Michael! Love your stuff at TVguide. Now happy I can find everything I need here!

  • Amazon Woman

I was tickled blue to see that Mr. A is heading over here. Now it is official…EW is my ultimate info source. Hope he does his Vodcasts and blog. Also…Michael Slezak needs a blog and vodcasts..he is nifty!
    Keep smilin!

  • E

Just bring the scoop and I’ll be happy! Glad that Aus is moving from one of my favorite sites to another; I just hope he can bring Ask Ausiello with him.

  • laura – Moonlight

Great! Welcome Ausiello .. now use your powers for good, tell CBS ( Can’t Be Serious – CBS ) to bring back Moonlight!! ;op

  • K

Awesome! I’ve been reading Ausiello for ages and I think he’s a great fit with EW. I’d love to hear his take on the upfronts…what he’s looking forward to next season.
I like my EW columnists detailed and obsessive, so please go all out on Lost, Grey’s, Desperate Housewives, Battlestar Galactcia, Dollhouse, etc.
I’d love him to continue scooping shows…this site needs a spoilers section!

  • Rose Tyler

Yes! Why doesn’t he team up with Doc Jenson to do some sort of Lost podcast thingy to get us through the coming drought? I’d love to hear the two of the them bounce theories off each other. Cast interviews! Make the writers talk! It’s brilliant.

  • paige

omg! tvguide is completey stupid for letting Ausiello walk away- but on that note– CONGRATS EW!!!! he better be writing a full on Friday Night Lights review when the show comes back!

  • Rita

Yeah bring the Ausiello report and his weekly spoilers to ew.com!!!! please!! i love ausiello

  • Zaphod Beeblebrox

    Three questions:
    1) Who is this guy?
    b) Is he some sort of writer or something?
    4) Do people like him? Because I can’t really tell from the comments below…

  • Melanie

Another Aushole here! Now I have almost no reason to frequent tvguide.com anymore. I just hope he plays nice with Slezak and Annie here at EW…

  • Cami

Love Ausiello. Vote for him for sexiest vegetarian! I hope he still gives us some scoop, ew could use a great scooper.

  • Answer

1 & b) TV writer and spoiler junkie from TVG, who gets the goods from tight-lipped TV peeps. MA’s current online Q&A column “Ask Ausiello” on Wednesdays is a must-read for many.
    4) Depends who you ask. Spoilerphobes hate, some are annoyed with the snark and ego and constant Smurf/Snapple love… but the rest of us are devoted “Ausholes.”

  • Not A Fan

Oh, crap. I can see why he’s so popular, but MY GOD, is there a more self-congratulatory wanker on the planet? I had to stop reading TVGuide.com because he annoyed the hell out of me. Now I’ll have to avoid him here as well, which will be tough since I’ve had a print subscription for 15 years.
