Sleazak looks pained during this interview. He knows he is going to be raked over the coals by viewers and its killing him that DA is shining. I can’t wait to see part 3 of this interview. DA will slay him with his graciousness. Sorry, Sleazak, one more day is not going to help you edit part 3 to make you look better.
Poor Sleazak painted himself into a corner. You should come out and apologize for being wrong, buddy. Maybe you could get some credibility back. I really liked watching you up until this season. You pounced on DA when he was less than stellar (and his less than stellar was far better than most contestants on their best night) and you absolutely refused to give him any credit when he was unbelievably good. Your compliments were always mixed in with a jab.
It seems this kid had no agenda coming into AI but to sing his heart out. I love that there is no ego, he seems happy about how it all turned out, and has a fun personality. What a great example to all teens.
Spot on, Mbates, but I’ll go you one further. What a great example for all human beings.
Loved that David Cook won, but David A is just so freeking adorable. He has a bright future ahead of him as well.
I am a huge Archie fan–but we all know that this is American Idol and it’s par for the course for the media to impose a certain personality on some of the contestants and stick with it. Slezak showed bambi for brook and I think a wicked with for Carly and then the Telletubbie for Archie. Now that Archie has had the chance to show how cute, outgoing, honest and funny he truly is– he has been a shinig star in every interview since the finale. One great thing about being 17–he hardly even looks tired during this press tour! Think about it, when something looks too good to be true to the media the cynic in them takes over (this golly gee routine must be fake, he’s young and cute so he must be a telletubby, no 17 year old cares about religion and family this openly, he must be controlled by his father-the list goes on and on). Those of us who have followed him closely, chatted online with close friends and family and watched his video footage know differently–this is a special kid.

Slezak…you ridiculed David A all season so it is nice to see you do a decent interview with him. Too bad it makes you look so bad and him look soooo good!
Just love this boy! Isn’t he amazing? This is what he said in an interview with MTV:
“It’s kind of like going through a tunnel. … You’re all by yourself in there, only it’s a one-way mirror and people can see you in the tunnel, and then you come out the other side and everyone’s asking for your autograph.”
Ah, I see we have been infiltrated by people without a sense of humor. If you guys thought Slezak’s rather mild criticisms of David Archuleta were bad, you’re living pretty sheltered lives. Fortunately, the kid is a lot better adjusted than we are!
Michael Sleezak….you are NOT WORTHY to be in David’s presence!!!!!!!!
To bad that Sleezy aka Slezak just didn’t get it with him. David is so far and above Slezak with his gracious and kind personality, I can’t imagine how hot that seat got for Slezak. David is a true star, too bad that in order to try to build up David Cook, they felt they had to tear David Archuleta down. After all is said and done, singing or not, David Archuleta is the real winner.
Yeah, probably the interviews will help Sleazy understand which David is genuine vs. phony.

I’d love to see a followup commentary from you regarding this interview. I do agree, how dare you interview him after all the mean things that you said about him all season? Why even bother? You refused to have any objectivity where David was concerned, so why feign it now? So has your opinion of him changed?
one of archie’s best interview so far, so charming, and he seems genuinely happy. unfortunately, it came from mr sleezy.
When you see the two of them side by side, you can really see how SMALL Sleazak is. He’s lucky David is even giving him the time of day.
He is a great kid. I hope he makes it.
