What’s your latest YouTube obsession? Thanks to the Mamma Mia! trailer, and the fact that I saw the Broadway show for the first time recently, I’m all about ABBA videos at the moment.
My favorite clip (because this one of "Honey Honey" is not embeddable) could be "Take a Chance on Me." Every moment is awesomely bad.
After the jump, a few more of the contenders…
"Knowing Me, Knowing You"… Knowing a giant Slinky?
"Does Your Mother Know" … That you stand that way, Agnetha?
"Waterloo": Now that’s a production number.
"The Winner Takes It All" … Including some blue eye shadow!
"Chiquitita": I’m sure there was a reason for them to be singing in front of a large snowman.
ABBA, Olivia Newton-John, and Andy Gibb covering the Beach Boys? Why not?

abba is awesome- always has been- always will be.
I skipped the PBS version of Mansfield Park when it aired because I am not a fan of Billie Piper. But the DVD was available at the library one day so I watched it and, what do you know, there is Malachi from BBC’s Hex (playing Mr. Crawford). Which led me to Amazon to see if Hex S2 is available on DVD (no) which led me to YouTube where I now stop daily for a Hex fanvid or episode viewing. How did we ever do without it?
This is a great Abba vid too:
My sister turned me onto “The Count Song” from Sesame Street with the word “count” bleeped as if it were a dirty word. Pure comic gold!
Search ‘powerthirst’ on youtube. It’s seriously an addiction. After you watch the first one, watch the second. They’re both equally amazing.
Lately, I have been recalling my childhood of the 1970s by watching YouTube videos of things like vintage Sesame Street, TV commercial ads, TV promo ads for the ABC Sunday Night Movie, the 4:30 Movie and the like. Fun stuff!
episodes of cute with chris (also at cutewithchris.com) and the “what am i? what am i?” video. hilarious.
Sesame Street clips are definitely my obsession. I recently rediscovered Momix’s same/different clip – it is absolutely hilarious!
The ‘mind sticker’ TAB commercial – from the early 70s I’d guess by the clothes. I play it at least once a day and I still giggle long after it’s over.
Opening credits from old TV shows. I could watch these all day. I wish more shows still had theme songs!
Credits & theme songs from bad cartoons I used to watch as a kid. Birdman, Rocket Robin Hood, Scooby-Doo Where Are You, and Josie and The Pussycats among others.
(Aw hell. I just dated myself again)
I have a nasty obsession of watching songs I like on YouTube, whether it be the music video, live performance, or a Heroes-liked video of it.
Current YouTube obsession: watching old Electric Company videos with my daughter while waiting to get the DVDs from Netflix.
Liking the ABBA videos too, especially since I finally caught Mamma Mia on Broadway last month. If you like Abba songs and snow, check out this wicked awesome French & Saunders parody: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eidyrlSdKcE
Funny you should mention it because I just finished watching my two youtube obsessions: EJami and Liason clips (that’s EJ and Sami and Liz and Jason for the uninitiated). I miss my soaps during the day and, frankly, they suck for the most part. But there are others like myself who would like to fast forward through all the scenes that have nothting to do with their couples and watch the juicy stuff. Today I got a heartbreaking good-bye kiss from Liason on General Hospital (bring those two back together NOW!!!!) and the steamiest love scene on daytime EVA!!! (You go, Days of Our Lives.)
LOVE LOVE LOVE Abba. Some of the best pop bubble gum music EVER. I challenge you to listen and not dance around your living room. Whenever I am blue- I pop in ABBA GOLD and I instantly feel better.
I cannot hear “Take a Chance on Me” without hearing andy singing it to angela on “The Office”
totally into a web series found on youtube called “Roommating.” it’s hilarious, trust me.
I have two obsessions and they are both old. But you know the saying…OLDIES BUT GOODIES.
The Home Shopping Channel man calling a moth a horse:

and Manchester Orchestra Podcasts (There are 70 of them so I’ll post my fav): http://youtube.com/watch?v=KkOg80a4NKY
Australia’s Next Top Model fully trumps our stateside version. Child of the corn Alamela (who I thought was Ella Miller until today) and her brutal bullies IS the best, but the drunkenness, stupidity, and cursing certainly helps. Australians don’t know who Winston Churchill is? Fantastic. Britain’s Next Top Model’s pretty great too.
That’s great! Probably my favorite ABBA song and a cheese-tastic video.
The latest youtube obsession in our house is the FOTCs new video for “Ladies of the World” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLJ5a6aJOb8,
- mad skating skills, jumpsuits, porn ’staches – what more could you want?
Well now Andy Gibb is going to be my youtube obsession. Dear gawd, how I loved him.
I am immune to YouTube’s charms since South Park Studios started broadcasting every episode online. I’m hooked, I say. And I’ve become fully convinced that Butters is the best character ever. The Butters-Cartman relationship is priceless.
I can’t stop watching “Charlie Bit Me.”
i have been watching a lot of old performances from so you think you can dance in preparation for the new season starting thursday. Also, search “boylicious”…you will not be sorry!
btw, “boylicious” music is NSFW
Many years ago, my ABBA Greatest Hits CD got stuck in my car stereo. Actually, the stereo broke because for I could either listen to ABBA or nothing at all. I was in school and had no money to get it fixed. I soon HATED ABBA. It is good to know that I can watch these videos and once again appreciate the pure gold of them.
As embarrassing as it may be, David Cook’s performances on Amercian Idol are my obsession. I watch at least 3-4 of them a day. I can’t help it!
I am totally hooked on the Davey Dance Blog. His great framings of iconic locations and the way he just makes dance happen in the middle of everyone is hypnotic.
My kids are loving the manualist skills of Gerry Phillips, especially the Benny Hill Theme. Dude can rock the hand toots.
I’m obsessed watching dancehall moves on youtube. But I found this one http://youtube.com/watch?v=JqgUhD59DWI
that has me in tears. You can forward to 0:58min if you don’t have 1:35mins to spare. Just hilarious.
1. Babies falling asleep while eating (it used to be babies laughing)
2. The Numa Numa guy, after Chris Evans mentioned it.
3. The Junior Paso Doble that you guys showed in your Dancing with the Stars slideshow (last slide). I usually watch all DWTS clips on youtube.
4. And always KevJumba. He’s just a funny guy.
