The show is scary in that it has a lot of creepy moments. It is great, the Brothers Winchester could not have been caste or played better. It is an awesome show.
This show is definitely scary but also has a lot of comic relief. The “Wanted Dead Or Alive” clip is just one of the great brotherly moments shared between Dean and Sam. It really is a great show!
Mandi, the GORE of the show is far more freaky than the SCARY aspects. But it’s fun nonetheless. Combined with the comedy, the family drama, the classic rock, and the hot car… you can’t go wrong. It’s Star Wars in truck stop America.
P.S. Don’t just catch it in repeats. Pick up season one. It has a few rocky episodes, but what first season doesn’t? It’s a fantastic show; you’ll love it.
Very little in SUPERNATURAL has scared me. But I love this show in a way that goes beyond just a TV program. Dean and Sam reached out from the TV screen and grabbed my heart! And the scene of gorgeous Sam in a towel was NOT gratuitous! It was very necessary to the plot of that episode!
“Supernatural” scary? You gotta be kidding me. If you think that’s scary, maybe you shouldn’t be up past 9:00 PM. Go watch “Audition” and then talk to me about scary.
I’m not big on scary movies, or anything horror, but Supernatural is still my favorite show. I watch little else, and although a few things they’ve had on the show have kind of grossed me out it’s not bad and definitely not what I would consider really scary. It’s a show about the Winchester brothers so even if it was a little scary it’s still worth it to watch.
All my online female friends have devoted their lives (and possibly souls) to SPN, as it’s called. I still don’t see why. I’ve watched four, maybe five episodes, and I don’t get why it’s better than anything else on TV. Not bad, mind you, but … oh well, I never “got” VM or GG (Gilmore, not Gossip), either. I’m very suspicious of all the praise of the “excellent brother-brother relationship” that comes from … well … people who are not brothers. I.e. sisters.
I watched the whole first season and half of the second in less than a week. I would stay up til dawn just so I wouldnt be in the dark to sleep and I would leave all the lights on.
Just saying.
Don’t like the scary, don’t watch the scary… However, I just rented the first DVD of the first season. I have found that turning down the volume during the really suspenseful parts cuts the scare level down by half. It’s definitely do-able, and worth it because of Dean and Sam. I’m already hooked.
I reccommend this show to anyone who is nt watching! Mostly well written and beautifully directed, I have watched S1 & S2 multiple times. It’s a must on DVD or itunes. Way angsty-er without commercials. The worst episode was the S3 finale. Only becuse by that time, you are so invested in the brothers it KILLS! Watch it! You won’t regret it.
OMG, youll LOVE it. It revolves more around the brotherly love and family drama then the scare tactic!
I have felt chills watching this show on several occasions, but it’s not so much scary as it interprets different urban legends in fun, new interesting ways. I think you’ll laugh more often than you’ll scream!
Most of the scary thigs came in the first season. Mostly “Bloody Mary” and “Dead in the Water”. But everything mostly in the first season before the main story arc (Yellow-Eyed Demon) was introduced was pretty scary but it has a comic relief to it with the boys. You should really watch it, I started late for the same reason you’re not watching it now but I really recommend it. You should start from Season 1 because it’s pretty serialized from season to season.
Supernatural, along with Bones, is one of my favorites, because it balances character drama with the creepy/procedural stuff so well!
And it can be very scary when it wants to be….especially the Bloody Mary episode…..but it can be very funny too!
I only came in at the beginning of S3 after a friend insisted I start from the beginning last summer. It was worth it. The evolution of the Winchesters and their story-arc is epic. It really must be seen from the first episode. It’s about way more than the scary bits. I can’t wait ’till September. Kripke hates us
