I, too, am wondering how Mr. Checker came up with this bit of merchandising… considering a few years ago, he was whining because he didn’t have a statue outside the Rock Hall (after all, he is responsible for “The Twist”), perhaps it should just be called “Beef Jerk”.

My first reaction was not about the jerky (could the beef come from unsold Trump Steaks?), but amazement that Chubby Checker had enough material to fill a “greatest hit(s)” album.

How did he ever decide on beef jerky? An old family recipe? His favorite snack? Or he made a bunch of it in 1964 and he’s finally gotten around to selling it now?
