I’m not fully versed in Stephenie Meyer’s world of romantic-but-chaste teenage vampires, but the teaser for Twilight (opening Dec. 12), which debuted in theaters over the weekend and is streaming now at MySpace’s Trailer Park, looks pretty darn cool. Hardcore Edward-and-Bella-philes can geek out over at MTV.com, which has a shot-by-shot analysis of the clip. For everyone else, let’s just say that Kristen Stewart looks like she’ll do fine as the strong-willed mortal Bella; Robert Pattinson seems properly courtly (and toothy) as her bloodsucking beloved Edward; and the action and FX look kinetic enough to dazzle even those who haven’t read Meyer’s bestsellers. Watch the teaser below, and see if you agree that it makes Twilight look like a movie you could sink your fangs into.

OMG! I am SOOOOOOOOOO excited about this movie! I’m addicted to the books! (Yes, I’m 27 years old and screamed like a little fan-girl when I saw you had this up!) Can’t wait! Squee!!!
OMFG!!!!!! I have already watched the trailer 10 times in the past hour. I am freaking out and totally slacking at work. I am the worst excuse for a head librarian ever! And I have you beat Jamie – I am 37 years old and I am geeking out like a teenager over it.
Me too, Anne, me too! It looks amazing! I am impressed…
Glad to know I’m not the only adult freaking out over here! My four year old came in and wanted to know what I was screaming about!
I am SO excited for this movie!!! I’ve loved the idea of Robert as Edward from day 1, he looks amazing! I am so in love with these books, I’m positive I’ll love the movie.
You know if you watch the Quicktime HD version full screen with all the lights off it’s like you’re in a theater… not.. that.. I’ve done that or anything…
Looks a-mazing! Loooove Rob Pattinson!
I’m just about midway through the book and was actually just thinking to myself that they could never make it into the movie as they’d never find an actual guy as perfect as Edward is supposed to be. Though the trailer looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the film, I stand by my original thought. Reminds me of when they filmed “The Firm” and the main character’s wife and then the woman he has an affair with were supposed to be unbelievably beautiful. Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I didn’t think either lived up to anticipation.
Count me in as an adult who is acting like a teenager about this movie. I had serious doubts about Pattinson as Edward, but this trailer changed my mind. He has the Edward smile down. I’m still very disappointed over the casting of Jacob Black (not seen in this trailer).
So excited!!!!!!!!!!
I am reading the book right now and I really enjoy it, I am happy that the trailer showed what I have read so far and nothing more. I know this was a book written for teenagers about teenagers, but I am feeling giddy as one for December to come and I can see this film.
SO excited. The books are absolutely amazing, and this trailer tells me the movie will not disappoint. December cannot come fast enough.
Interesting. I really thought Pattinson was going to fall flat on his face trying to fit every teen reader’s vision of “perfect”, but he looks like he’s going to do a surprisingly good job.
I’m not insane about the books, but I do feel like they’ll make excellent movies. So yeah–I’ll be there.
Pattison is brilliant as Edward. I’m a little worried about Bella though. I definately need to reread the books. And I’m 30-something and squealed a few times myself. Cannot wait for December!
I can’t wait for December! I wasn’t too thrilled about the casting of Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart, but from the looks of the trailer their chemistry is great. And Robert’s hair is perfect.
I can’t wait – I’ll be there in Dec! (And in line for the 4th book in August!)
I’m interested to see what new viewers (ie: haven’t heard of the movie or the book) think. I’ve been following both, so I’m obviously bias (ahem… sqeeeeee!) But it’s not really obvious that the movie’s about vampires and love and death and is going to be legend, wait for it!
Cedric Diggory Lives!
I liked the trailer, but I’m a little iffy on the choice for Edward. I think Ben Barnes from Prince Caspian is a better choice for a seductive teenage boy. But after rewatching this trailer I realize why Robert freaks me out. He looks like a young Timothy Olyphant (Hitman) when he says, “You really shouldn’t have said that,” and that guy has serial killer written all over him.
Well Monica, he’s kind of supposed to have serial killer written all over him. Particularly when he’s trying to intimidate/ not kill Bella. Vive la Rob!
OME! I check PopWatch and the Twilight Lexicon obsessivly almost every hour, so I can’t tell you how happy this post makes me.
This trailer ROCKS!!! Rob IS Edward…..
Also, I am another non-teen who is obsessed over these books. Actually, I guess it’s just Stephenie Meyer….as I just walked 25 city blocks to get my fresh copy of the Host!!!! So excited!!!!
THIS is going to be the movie event of the year!! And I’m hoping that EW starts to provide a LOT more coverage of TWILIGHT!!!
Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart ARE Edward & Bella! To a “T”!! And the trailer — though it is a “teaser trailer” is the most exciting thing I’ve seen in years! I’ve watched it more times than I can count and it only gets better!!!
I’m counting down the days till 12/12/08!!!
Cara, I’m with you. I’m still on the fence about the books. I really can’t decide if I like them or not. But this trailer got me interested anyway. Looks like it’s going to be a cool movie. That, and every time I watch Goblet of Fire I think, “Why isn’t Cedric in more movies?” So mostly I’m excited about him. This is an Edward I get behind.
*Breathe* Oh My Edward, this movie is going to be better than we thought!!!
I’m a 40-something mom of teen daughters, who introduced me to the books. There is something magical about this Twilight Series. My daughters and I talk about the movie and characters all the time…great bonding opportunities.
EEEEEEKKKKK!!! (That’s me screaming like a little girl) I’m so excited about seeing this movie and watching the trailer just proved why. I’m a huge fan of the books and I can’t wait for December (ugh, so far away). Side note: I know these books are for teenagers but I’m 27…yeah, they are that good!
I have not yet read the books, but I think I will after seeing this trailer. It actually looks really good!
*Just a friendly warning to anyone that watches this trailer and then wants to read the books*
They will consume your life! I have turned many of my (then doubting) friends onto these books, only to have them finish all three in less than a week and become just as obsessed as I am. Again, I am not a teen girl (28), these books just make me act like one:)
I think I stopped breathing for a second
This teaser trailer has been anticipated for MONTHS now. The fandom literally almost combusted yesterday. If you haven’t fallen into the Twilight spell yet you will. I’m an adult who can.not.stop.obsessing about this movie and the books. Thanks for bringing attention to it.
Twilight shall consume ur entire life!!! I’m hooked and seeing the trailer i… oh dear father in heaven…. i just want to go through the rest of this year as fast as possible. if u don’t wnat an addiction then i suggest u stay far away from the Twilight series… of CHRIST!!! i-i- I LOVE YOU ROBBERT PATTISON!!!!
Kristen Stewart looks awesome in this… oh sweet jehosephats!!
I am so ashamed of how excited I am for this movie (and for the final book later this year). As soon as the first pictures started circulating, I’ve been internally squealing like a 14-year-old girl.
