Must List suggestions, anyone?

I dunno about you, but I’m getting a little impatient for this spring’s weather to turn a little spring-ier. Luckily for me, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden commissioned this gorgeous time-lapse video (below) of their cherry trees blossoming over the past week. (Hat tip.) And just like that, my mental climate has gone from "air conditioned cubicle-y" to "pleasantly floral"! That’s more than enough to put this clip on my personal Must List — even if that so-called "original music" soundtrack is totally just a dude playing the riff from "Clocks" over and over again.

On that note, let’s hear it. Which current TV shows/movies/music/books/games/websites make your MustList this week? In the comments below, list up to three, and includeyour e-mail address so we can contact you if we decide to use yoursubmission in the magazine. Deadline is tomorrow, Thursday, May 1, at10 a.m. ET.

Always good for politics, pop culture, music, and a worthy cause.

  • Sarah

The Big Bang Theory + How I Met Your Mother. The best hour I spend with my TV all week!

  • Jamie

The theme song to 30 Rock. Love the snappy sax and flirty flute with the subtle “oh” and “ah”! I’ve never been to New York, but I can only assume this is what Rockefeller Plaza sounds like. It just makes me happy.

1)John Adams!! Absolutely brilliant performances from Giamatti and Linney. Sorry it’s over.
2)Battlestar Gallactica – The best hour of television..Ever! Michael Hogan as the newly discovered Cylon Col. Tigh is absolutley Amazing.
3)LOST – Keeps getting better and crazier, Michael Emerson = creepiest villian of TV History

Portishead, _Third_ – Coupled with their amazing performance at Coachella, this album proves that they are an essential band of this generation.

A GREAT book that I just discovered in paperback – Who Cooked The Last Supper? The Women’s History of The World by Rosalind Miles. It’s funny and smart and angry and so damn interesting! It’s not about the politics – it’s about the silent power! 2nd recommendation localpointtv.com – it’s a station offered on our local DC HD channels – a complete repository of music, short films, stand-up comedy and storytelling. It is packed with stuff to explore. Click on “Click on This” for items that run the gamut. Check out the french film short “Switch” or the phenomenal Trevor Sands short film “Inside” starring Jeremy Sisto as someone institutionalized with multiple personality disorder.

    1) FilmDrunk.com– for every movie fanatic, this website is a hilarious but informative source, and who doesn’t love making fun of nic cage?
    2) Forgetting Sarah Marshall — this movie really is comic genius on a completely differnt level from most comedies. jason segel (the writer) is brilliant
    3) 30 Rock — this show is amazing. tina fey, alec baldwin, tracy morgan make for an amazing cast with perfect chemistry, and it still gets poor ratings. people need to see this show !!!

    1. Consolers of the Lonely by the Raconteurs- It’ll rock your socks off. I love the White Stripes but this is Jack White at his best.
2.Lars and the Real Girl on DVD- Ok so Juno was good but this movie is brilliant. How was it so overlooked?
    3. Lydia Hearst to appear on Gossip Girl- Look everyone, a real life socialite!

Death Cab’s new video and song “I will possess your heart”. One of the best contemporary American bands totally revolutionize themselves, possibly a contender for best album of the year. And running second will be Coldplay’s yet to be released new album “Viva la vida or death and all his friends” with the new single “Violet Hill” available online for free download. Awesome track of an anticipated album. Finally, Survivor, who knew that for the last three weeks we would get so much scheming and mistakes by good players!!

1.) New Musicals Passing Strange and In The Heights on Broadway – Fresh and thrilling
2.) ABC’s Thursday night lineup. Perfect
3.) Jesse McCartney’s “Leavin’”. Seriously. Great beat!

All other American Idol sites should be put to shame in the presence of What Not To Sing. A database of every performer, song, and artist covered in every episode of every season of the nation’s #1 TV show, complete with rankings compiled from the “Idolshpere”. I bet even EW’s Idol expert, Slezak, would not be able to guess who the three top-ranked Idol contestants of all time are.
This is the site that USA Today turned to for statistical information for an article regarding how performance order effects voting. Clearly, this is not your average AI fansite.

    – “The Amazing Spider-Man” – the Deity arc was really great (and judging by EW.com today, the book is about to get really interesting), but then again, Spidey against a snowy setting usually always works.
    – Flight of the Conchords’ debut album (available now) – Featuring 15 of the Conchords’ biggest hits from Season 1 of their HBO show, it comes with its own Bret and Gemaine poster!
    – “Roar!”, Michael Giacchino’s music from ‘Cloverfield’ – The 12 minute opus is finally available on iTunes, and it was totally worth the wait.

  • Mister D

Then She Found Me – excellent turns by Helen Hunt, Colin Firth, and an early Oscar worthy enty for Best Supporting Actress by Ms. Bette Midler.

  • Holly

BBCAmerica’s Robin Hood. Jonas Armstrong is the definition of “charming rogue.”

    1. Horrible People on MyDamnChannel. This 10 episode series just ended, but I keep coming back to it. Written by & starring members of The State, The Ten, etc. It is worth it just to hear the banter between Billy and Mother!
    2. The new Coldplay single! Amazing!
    3. Eli Stone. This series is still on abc.com for viewing & will hopefully (God/George Michael willing!)be renewed for next season.

  • Ashley

-The new single by Coldplay, Violet Hill. It sounds like the upcoming album, Viva la Vida will be worth the 3 year wait!
    - kidswb.com has begun to put up their old 90s cartoons up on the website. And as a procrastinating college student, I am ever so greatlful.

  • Dave

Tony Stark’s outrageous house in “Ironman.” Love the design. And his cars aren’t bad either.

  • Nix

The teaser trailer for the series finale of “Avatar: the Last Airbender” from NY Comic Con, now all over the web. How did two RISD students go about creating an animated epic comparable to Star Wars, Potter and Rings? By following the traditional structure–with knowing winks and brilliant details.

  • Chris Richards

The Spring Awakening Soundtrack. Just a n utterly fantastic musical journey from start to finish.

1.American Idol(this show has been going downhill, and it showed in Tuesday’s show–Paulagate–)
2.Ben a.k.a Michael Emerson(or is the other way?? I mean if I bumped into Michael I probably call him Ben, and then run–them eyes of his(creepy)– Should get recognized for his brilliant work on LOST and taking front and center stage when LOST was lost*Season 3* and made it incredible again*Season 4
3.Mario Kart Wii or Grand Theft Auto IV(depends on who likes what, because these games are on a different spectrum. On one end you have a game for a mature audience and on the other end a game for a more family friendly audience. Either way both games will please die hards of either franchise)

  • Dana

    (1) “Analog Heart” CD by David Cook, a contestant on this season’s American Idol. It raced to the top of Amazon’s MP3 downloads (beating Madonna and Mariah Carey the week their CDs were released)!

  • drella66

Female Comedians! Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opening a movie at number one, and a non-romantic comedy at that! Plus the women on Samantha Who? are a riot!

  • Hans

    1. PaulaGate!!! I don’t care if Paula stays or goes. I just want more PaulaGate-level craziness on the increasingly boring Idol.
    2. Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. It’s amazing how much I love this album (now that I’ve dusted it off the shelf I’ve kept it in for months). Instant classic. And I don’t even like hiphop!
    3. Any effort to get Henry off of Ugly Betty. Seriously, every one knows there’s no future here.

  • Snarf

TV – LOST just keeps getting better and better.
Movie – Iron Man Finally a superhero movie aimed at the 18+ crowd
Games – Grand Theft Auto 4 – Brutal, violent and lots of fun.

  • aymzer

Lars and the Real Girl really is THAT GOOD.

The Diving Bell & the Butterfly. A film that defines everything that cinema is supposed to be.It is top notch filmmaking and entertaining as well.

  • Gary Perkowitz

thecheappop.com is the most hilarious, reliable, and harmless pop site on the web.

  • v

30 Rock – I’ll say it every week! “411? Uh, diabetes repair?” Awesome. And to throw in that Amadeus spoof last week? I love how their minds work! Speaking of which, that brings me to my 2nd Must of the week… Eddie Izzard! Saw his show in Boston last night. If he’s playing anywhere near you, go see him!

  • Lou

I am lovin the new MTV show, the Paper. It really gets the complex power struggles of overachieving teens to run a newspaper. Sometimes endearing, sometimes cringe worth, it will totally bring you back. I totally want Amanda and Alex (editor-in-cheif and managing-editor) to go beyond crush staus to full on dating. Amanda coordinating her outifts for the first week of school with photos was a hoot. I found myself wanting the Hills (I know its horrible) to finish up so I could watch the new episode of The Paper. Its really fun!
