Pop Quiz: The 'My Best Friend's Girl' trailer…

A. may cause dry mouth, nausea, and feelings of grimness.
B. proves that Dane Cook has gotten the good end of a pact with Satan.
C. is a great reminder to watch Overboard/Private Benjamin/Protocol on cable this week.
D. makes you want to devote the next twelve hours to drunkenly banging out a cliché-filled romantic comedy script (preferably involving an unlikely "relationship fixer" character and a pratfall-filled wedding scene) which will free you from the drudgery of everyday work life and make you the toast of Hollywood.
E. looks freakin’ awesome.

    Co-starring Dane Cook = I’m not interested.

Didn’t they make this movie already? Wasn’t it called Good Luck Chuck? And didn’t it suck?

  • Dominique L.

    Two questions:
    - How does Dane Cook get top billing?
    - Is this Alec Baldwin’s punishment for calling his daughter a “rude little pig”? Cause this seems way harsh.

    F. May cause mental retardation.

Answer – A,B,C and D. I couldn’t even get through half of the trailer.
Too bad that Ms. Hudson is turning to this generic crap. She had potential.

  • Silent E

Not to mention they’ve already done this storyline with David Boreanaz in “Mr. Fix-It,” which was also crap-tastic, but at least you can watch him without having to bleach your brain afterwards!

  • junior

Must finish my romcom screenplay now!

  • MIH

Love Cook, Baldwin and Hudson. Looks like a fun flick. I’d definitely watch it.

  • kelsey

    Dane Cook? Pass.

  • mark in nyc

Saw kate hudson and wanted to watch the trailer but before I could click play read Dane Cooks name and passed. That guy sucks and is not funny. All he does is bring movies down, yet he still gets cast. someone explain how this can be?

  • Lynny

Looks a little like the Will Smith movie from a couple of years ago and automatically loses points for hiring Dane Cook- maybe when it is on HBO.

  • ?

A lot of Dane-haters. So what did this guy do to attract all the negativity? And why do people pay $$ keeping him in business?
    I don’t get it.

  • Jessica

I want to know when the Dane Cook backlash began. I admit that his movies haven’t been very good but his standup is still spot on. I’ll reserve my critique until after I’ve watched the movie.

  • Snarf

A, B, D. Gotta work on my acceptance speech (if Ben’n Matt can do it so can I!)

  • Elizabeth

    G) What is Kate Hudson doing in this movie?
    H) What is Alec Baldwin doing in this movie?
I don’t hate Dane – it was getting to be a little overload for a while there.

  • NineDaves

so it’s “how to lose a guy in 10 days” meets “click.” terrible.

  • NineDaves

i’m sorry, not click. HITCH. i meant hitch.

  • Jennifer

Man, remember when Kate Hudson first broke onto the scene and was going to be the next Great Star and was even nominated for an Oscar? What happened to that?… Oh, that’s right: She made the same dang movie 10 times in a row.

  • nunya

kate hudson is absolutely useless. she has not been in one decent film in SEVEN years!

  • Debsa

Very scary…Dane Cook is awful and words cannot describe Kate Hudson. She needs a better agent..

  • Alyson

Isn’t this My Best Friend’s Wedding???

  • Liz M

Saw an early cut, it’s actually really funny. I’ll admit, I was expecting to hate it but it is 1000 times better than any of Dane Cook’s other movies and he and Kate H have surprisingly good chemistry. Even Jason Biggs isn’t that annoying in it. Baldwin is genius.

  • Sven

    B) As much as I wanted to see Dan in Real Life, I could not because Dane Cook was in it. While I might have eventually gotten to this on dvd, again can not because of him. What is wrong with Hollywood? Stop putting Dane Cook in movies!

  • David B.

Anyone who likes Dane Cook must be under the age of 25. The guy steals every bit he does on stage, so don’t say his material is funny. The original guy who wrote the joke knows it is funny. Can Cook deliver a joke well? The jury is still out on that one, but he sure has suckered a lot of people.

  • Tyre

Here’s my two cents: She works with these guys because she can score some awesome w**d…i.e.-Dane Cook, Jason Biggs, Owen Wilson, Matthew McConaughey…am I lying?

  • Al Fredo

Slezak – what makes you think it would take 12 hours to bang something like this out? Oh, I see – the drunken part…so that involves trips to the can every 10 minutes. Anyway, definitely NOT E.

  • eltee

Seriously Kate, I sort of understand when people who aren’t children of famous actors do the “paycheck” flicks but you coulda been a contender. How does one become so lazy? Or is it that you just can’t resist a script that has that big Pretty Woman “and then she comes out in a gorgeous gown and everyone goes bananas over how beautiful she is” moment? ‘Cuz you do that a lot. I hope it’s for the weed.

  • eltee

And by famous I mean rich.

  • dala

I was an extra for this movie!! im in the prom scene! but chances are ill probably wait for the movie to come out on dvd so i can watch for myself on slowmo haha

  • Sorella

If there’s anybody that desperately needs a career overhaul and new agent, it’s Kate Hudson! She makes the same movie over and over and has dreadful instincts when picking scripts. She’s definetely getting work based on her Mom’s name, not her acting ability. Like someone else said, she’s in it for the paycheques!
