I would have like to have seen Kristy Cook last longer and Carly gone, but they all have to go except one. At lest Kristy left on the lucky number 7. Kristy you are beautiful and also a have a beautiful voice.
Ha, that is funny. We are 2 different Stefs.
Listen, being ‘offended’ by a christian song on a show based on music, is about as stupid as being offended if they sang ‘Lola’ or ‘My Sweet Lord’ etc. Do you think I’m going to be complaining about somebody trying to convert me to gaydom, Hare Krishna or whatever? Ridiculous and a tad paranoid don’t you think?.
Pastorek, you need to stop being so sensitive. Park your defensiveness at the door and just try to ‘enjoy’ the music, whatever genre it may be.
I think “Shout Out” and “Sweet Day” were sung in order to pave the way for ALW and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. I like that musical but it can be controversial. How can the Idols sing any of those songs and leave out “Jesus Christ”? (I sound very serious, don’t I? I’m not really…).
I LOVE that they sand “One Sweet Day” and I LOVED that they sang “Shout to the Lord” TWICE!!!! LOVE IT!!!! Those who don’t like it, turn off the TV! Pretty simple for people who are not moronic idiots!!!

I have never thought of “One Sweet Day” as a religious or inspirational song. I was more concerned about all of the references to dying in the musical perfomances, what with David Cook and his brother’s health and Elliott Yamin just losing his mother- I thought THAT was insensitive. I’m much more annoyed with Ford, Coke products, and ITunes/IPod/IPhone being mentioned every 3 minutes on every broadcast, more so than the 3 Christian group performances this year.
You haughty hatred of all things Christian comes through loud and clear.
Face it…it’s an integral part of our society. At least 4 of the 7 contestants share these beliefs, but in your secular mindset, they must refrain expressing their core beliefs while you shout yours loud and clear.
Are you related to Lenin by chance?
Oh, snap!
Tolerance is tough for everyone, isn’t it, Whitney?
Space Camp speech! That was hilarious. I think last night’s theme was death and dying. We had “One Sweet Day”, Elliot’s touching tribute to his mom, and then Mariah singing “Bye Bye”. I thought poor David Cook would have a nervous breakdown!
I very much agree with both Greg and Kristen below….very well stated by both of you!
Dear Whitney…we get it. You’re not a God girl. Got the memo. But please…LET IT GO! Methinks you got some issues. If it’s not your thing…just LET IT GO. Your persistent anti-religion comments (rants?) are annoying. And apparently you feel threatened by it because you have to persist in your objections to things that are not offensive to the majority of viewers, and I would even say are really mild in mentioning religion, like last night’s song. It was a Maria song, after all. So…get some help for your issues and underlying anger. Dare I say, I’ll pray for you. (No doubt that will REALLY irritate you.)
Amen to RTA’s comment. My only problem with “Idol” singing Christian songs is, “don’t sing it if ya don’t mean it”. God is not to be mocked or trivialized, He’s awesome and worthy of true praise!
…and rephrasing a great line from Nicholas Cage in City of Angels, “just because you don’t believe something, doesn’t mean it isn’t true”. Thanks, American Idol, for opening the Jesus door.
Can’t wait to read Whitney’s anti-religion rants after the Idols sing songs from “Joseph…” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
