As casting continues on The CW’s planned Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff — our Hollywood Insider blog reports that Nip/Tuck‘s AnnaLynne McCord (right) will play one of the hot, rich teens, alongside the previously cast Dustin Milligan (left) — we think it’s time to take a PopWatch pulse: Are you happy with the way the spinoff is shaping up? Before you answer, did you catch the item in The Hollywood Reporter saying the spinoff is now Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas’ third priority? He has two pilots in the pot at ABC, so other scribes are being hired to rewrite his spinoff script. (Thomas will, however, remain an executive producer on the CW pilot.)
Personally, my enthusiasm for the spinoff is beginning to wane. Yours?

Whatever Rob Thomas does, I’m willing to give it a try. I didn’t watch Veronica Mars until it was off the air and on dvd, something I regret. Hopefully, since he has so many projects going he will bring back some of his V.M. cast back to t.v. I’m thinking Percy Daggs III, Teddy Dunn and Francis Capra. Of course, should Heroes and Moonlight not work out it would be imperative that he work Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring in as well.
As Rob Thomas is no longer writing, I’m no longer interested.

My enthusiasm waned when they attempted to remake the original instead of doing a true spin-off. Why didn’t they do the obvious and take the character of Erin Silver and base the show around her?
Color me waned. Wasn’t a big fan of AnnaLynne McCord on Nip/Tuck, and I’m meh about the spinoff’s premise. Rob Thomas had some 90210-y storylines on V Mars, so I guess I’m okay with him, but still. Meh overall.
Have you noticed that you can’t find the year that AnnaLynne McCord was born? We saw her playing an 18-year-old on “Nip/Tuck” and we were all like “She’s 27, at least.” T’will remain a mystery. Now she’s playing a teen again? I’m betting she’s 30.
She’s scorching hot, but I can’t get excited about this show.
Audrey, you are absolutely right about AnnaLynne! I would generously put her age at 25 but suspect it’s much higher. And she was just awful on “Nip/Tuck”. I know we were supposed to hate her character but I just hated her, period. I loved the original “90210″ but I’m no longer excited about this spin-off.

annaLynne looks so old. She doesn’t seem to be a teenager anymore…even in NIP/TUCK looked old (and they have Matt McNamara-JACKSON!!!)
