Thanks for mentioning my book Piano Girl, Winona. A life in the music business can be somewhat challenging at times--especially if you're in the hotel lounge business. Seemed to me that not much had been written about musicians who make a living playing in bars. Lots of celebrity biographies, downward spiral types of tales, but almost nothing about the girl who sits in the corner and plays tinka-tinka-tinka, night after night for chiropractor conventions, rich matrons, drunken toy salesmen (complete with squirting flower lapel pins) and lost souls looking to escape their loneliness.
My favorite novel about music is BODY AND SOUL, by the amazing Frank Conroy, a brilliant writer who also carved a nice career for himself as a jazz pianist on Nantucket Island.
It's not easy to write about music—the trick is to find the rhythm of the words, something Frank Conroy did so beautifully.

Oh, just another great book that I vividly remember from about 30 years ago. Bob Greene's story of Alice Cooper, I believe it was called "Billion Dollar Baby". Good stuff.
