Kathie Lee Gifford, who parted with Regis Philbin eight years ago, was on the Today show this morning to officially announce that she’ll be co-hosting its fourth hour with Hoda Kotb come April 7. And here’s the thing: Watching the Matt Lauer-narrated video that they showed of her career (below), I realized I’m totally okay with that. She’s the good kind of crazy: Outlandish, but composed. She claims she has good chemistry with Hoda, who laughed at her jokes and tolerated her singing at a lunch meeting at the Rainbow Room. We know she’ll never be at a loss for words — especially with son Cody, now 6′3", going off to college this fall. And, frankly, her legs look better than ever.

Now I have even ONE MORE reason to NOT watch that morning program.
I stopped watching after Katie left, and they brought in that Viera chick.

you know what mandi – i’m kind of okay with it too. i think it makes sense! they have to find something to pull people into the 4th hour, and kathy lee is the perfect person. she’s got a good fan base, and she’s got a good sense of humor. she’ll be great. though, i mean, i won’t be watching. one kathy lee is nowhere near as appealing at my ladies on the view.
I went back to watching Today after Katie Couric left, so why the H@LL would I watch the 4th hour with Kathie Lee? I’m just thankful that I’m at work after 1st hour.

Honestly, I think Kathie Lee has been “banished” long enough. She did the smart thing and laid low, and now she’s earned a comeback!
Absolutely will watch. She was always so direct and candid. Love that about her.
Bringing Kathie Lee on “Today” is a worse idea than “Today” expanding to the 4th hour.

I’d already gotten so annoyed by Meredith Viera’s “disapproving mom” interview style and blatant lack of professionalism that I stopped watching “Today.” Kathie Lee certainly won’t bring me back.
I always find it a little sad when these types leave with a lot of hoopla and then a few years later they’re back.

I’ve never understood the vitriol that she inspires. I’ve always liked her. Kathie Lee’s great strength is that she’s real, and I think she’ll bring a vibrancy that’s right now lacking in daytime television. Anyone who’s seen “The View” lately can testify to that…
OMG! Not her again. Just another reason to NOT play hooky from work. The only upside I can see….more material for Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and of course South Park. How about a reality show entitled “The Island of Unwanted Celebrities”? We could send her there, along with JLo, Lilo, Paris Hilton…..oh, the list is sooooo long. Who’d be on yours?

The “girls” of The Today Show have gotten worse at talking over each other. With Kathy Lee it will be even worse. I would rather have a root canal every day than have to hear her every morning. Ugh!
OMG! As if HOda wasn’t bad enough on her on. She’s so bossy- “can you get another shot of those large pants?” Are Natalie and Ann no longer there, what’s with that commercial-KLG joins Hoda??? I like Ann, Nat and Mika from MSNBC. But when they talk over each other it’s hard not to change the channel.
Ok, after watching the video, I realize she was good on the Regis thing, with her crazy antics and wit. But as a host on Today? Nope. I want my news served up serious folks, even if it’s light and happy news, give me serious, not her.
I almost choked when they welcomed her with such glee. I took the dog out while she was on. Wasn’t there anyone else currently looking for a job?

I love Kathie Lee and am so glad she is back. I think she is doing a terrific job. She is always so happy and funny.
