Dana-
Actually, what made his action inappropriate was the assertion that as a heterosexual cowboy it was weird for him to buy nail polish. The underlying assumption is that “real men” don’t buy nail polish (unless it’s for their wives) and that if you’re not strongly masculine, you must be gay (hence the “heterosexual cowboy” routine). It’s not a terribly big deal, but the whole bit leaves gay men as the butt of the joke. As in “ha, ha…aren’t gay men and their nail polish funny. Isn’t it so strange to have such a manly cowboy buying nail polish. Heaven forbid someone think he’s gay, so he’ll bring the heavy weight champ as cover.” And I wouldn’t be too quick to brush away the whole kiss on the cheek bit. You say you wouldn’t want a woman kissing you, but we’re not talking passion, we’re talking a peck on the cheek as a joke. The uncomfortableness is, at it’s core, caused by homophobia.
Let’ face it: It looks pretty strange for a guy to buy nail polish and even wierder if he wears it.
Axiom: Most homophobics like Trace Adkins are repressing their own homosexuality.
NO TRACE OF ADKINS;
MORGAN IS PIERLESS.
Piers deserved to win hands down. He played the game. The game was to win challenges and raise the most money. He did both better than anyone else. People just don’t get the British sense of humor. Piers was a great idea man and strategically out-smarted everyone. I have a lot more respect for him now that I had before. He showed me he is the real deal. And his devotion and commitment is unquestionable. He can be on my team any time. Way to go Piers!
Wheatgrass juice? Seriously? Why should a man dealing with his child’s food allergies be expected to know where to find wheatgrass juice (I would have asked Marilu…) and did anyone notice when he mentioned a maker that carried the juice, they hadn’t heard of it? How serious were they about that juice anyway? Not sure where to find in in New York… Here in CA I guess I would go to Whole Foods or Trader Joes (or one of the many smoothie places) I thought wheatgrass was out awhile ago and acai/pomegranite was in.
But why does DT ask people what they think when he basically has his decision made at the beginning? To paraphrase Trace, thats 2 hours I will never get back!
Well said “trania”!
Trace sure is a good dad: I admire him for that!
i am thrilled that piers won and not trace. trace should never have made it that far. he did nothing to lead. trump just likes him. yes, he is a nice guy, but he is also clearly a homophobe. but so is trump. i agree with the person who said he was offended. trace may be a nice guy, but it’s nice people with his attitude toward homosexuality that keep homophobia alive. “oh, i don’t mind them – just not in my house!” anyway, piers deserved to win, like him or not. yes, he is obnoxious, but he is effective. and if trump had not chosen him, he would have looked like a complete hypocrite. i think he knew that. frankly, i think that watching piers battle it out with carol alt would have been a helluva lot more entertaining.
This was the most entertaining Apprentice that I have ever seen and I really can’t stand Trump. I don’t like Piers, but probably appropriate that he won. I just wish that Gene would have hung around longer–he is a riot. What are the BSB’s thinking of–everybody has been trashing them as demanding spoiled kids. Was that worth a primetime appearance? I don’t think so.
Rosie o’drunk is a fat, racist, hating, un-funny, fat, ugly, racist man.
