A real 'Beverly Hills, 90210' spinoff (as opposed to 'Dancing With the Stars')

The CW has fast-tracked the pilot for a contemporary spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is considering penning said pilot — acceptable. It may or may not include any of the original characters — not acceptable. Right?

Who would you like to see return? I’m pulling for Brandon Walsh, if only so Jason Priestley will recreate the double fist pump from the show’s opening (below). Years ago, I used to watch morning Buffy the Vampire Slayer repeats on FX, and 90210 followed it. I would literally do the double fist pump with Priestley, then change the channel. Every morning.

so help me, if this is an andrea zuckerman or steve sanders spinoff, i am going to cry myself to sleep ever night. don’t mess with perfection, please! the only was i would watch this is if it featured brenda coming back to beverly hills and teaching at west beverly. that i would watch. she’ll teach theater after her long and illustrious stage career in london. she’ll introduce herself to the class by doing a dramatic reading of rem’s “losing my religion.” it’d be great.

    I second the Brenda return.

Rob Thomas back in action. AWESOME. I’m there solely for that reason.

do you have an address for Rob Thomas so I can send a letter and personally beg him to write this?

Unless Shannen Doherty(Brenda Walsh) is there, then this is a bad idea. Without her 90210 was just another bad Aaron Spelling show. Bring back Brenda!

  • GeeMoney

Can’t they just make a spin-off show called “Brenda: Why did your character leave 90210″ and make it all about her? I swear, 90210 was never the same after Shannen Doherty left.

Well, lets be realistic if we’re bringing back the original cast/characters. I don’t know how many HS sophomores-seniors can be realistically be the children of the original cast. Its bad enough that soap operas send 8 year olds off to boarding school in the fall and they return at Christmas as brooding 16-year olds facing an unwanted pregnancy or something like that.

“I don’t know how many HS sophomores-seniors can be realistically be the children of the original cast.”
The closest to this is Andrea’s daughter Hannah that was born at the end of the fourth season, but she would be only 14. Also, don’t forget Kelly and David’s sister Erin was born in ’92 which would make her 15-16 years old, perfect for this spin-off.

Oh my gosh- my guy friends are the BH 90210 boys grown up. I am so lame.

someone just emailed me about this earlier today. I thought it was a joke.
    A bad bad joke.

I park myself on the eliptical everyday at the gym and tune in on the SOAP Network. I freaking LOVE this show. But once they got to college and Brenda left it got worse. The high school episodes are the best hands down.
    P.S. I would totally tune in to a spin-off.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I want – nay, demand – the return of any regular prior from the high school era, and I reject the return of anyone who became a regular in or after CU (I’m talking to you, Noah and Matt).

Holy crap! That opening is a minute and half long!! It never ended. Loved the fist pump though!
