Oh yeah- Kathy Griffin- wtf where is she?!
Sandra Bullock
Courteney Cox
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is crazy sexy even though she tries to downplay it.
Hey Cliff, Scarlett’s better than you obviously give her credit for (most critics would agree, except for Lou Lumineck, who’s a sexist pig), though I’ll give you the fact that Mike Myers is an total A-wipe pr*ck…
The argument that there may not be a gender barrier to comedy in TV and online may be sound,(even though the Tina Fey online blurb was all about how great Alec Baldwin is!) but after seeing the pictures and reading the online content, the color barrier still stands firmly in place in all media forms. Where was the Wanda Sykes interview? What about the TONS of succesfull women of color comediennes who slug it out on the stand-up circuit? Where was Margaret Cho? What a surprise that once white women break social barriers, the fight is deemed to be “won”.
I always thought that Andrea Martin’s Edith Prickley from SCTV was pretty funny, and let’s not forget Dawn French from Vicar of Dibbley.
I totally agree w Cara & Cliff, you guys are on the money, why is it that hollywood has to “sexify” everyone? its like they’re freakin obsessed with make overs and I guess you can’t just be funny and talented, you just have to always be sexy too! Why is Jenna Fisher there anyway? I agree, people who do funny for a living on their own merit like Margaret Cho, Kathy Griffin and even Samantha Bee should be acknowledged as well!
Funny and sexy? No one’s bettr than this than the delicious Kristen Bell! Just watch any “Veronica Mars” episode!
I agree with Cara 100%… the “close to beautiful” in the article was just awful…and also where was Ellen Degeneres!!!!
Seriously, WTF happened to Kathy Griffin’s face???
That article was horrifying. Who cares? I don’t think that a woman’s beauty or lack thereof should MATTER! Off the top of my head, my favorite comediennes are Sandra Bullock, Ellen Degeneres, Miranda Richardson, and Queen Latifah. All of whom are pretty, but some of whom aren’t traffic-stopping beautiful. That doesn’t make them more or less funny, to me.

This is an article about how funny and sexy women can be.
So… why are these women dressed like celebrity trash?
I don’t see why women can’t be funny. People tell me I’m hilarious, but I don’t really try to be. Like on my blog, it seems I either make people mad or make them laugh. It’s not like I show funny videos or show bloopers. *shrug*

Where is Irene Dunne??? She was the queen of screwball comedy–beautiful, sexy, smart, AND funny. (She could do drama too.) Yet she is so underappreciated, and despite being nominated for seven Oscars, she never won. THAT’S a sin.
As a humor writer myself, people are always surprised at my appearance when they meet me for the first time. They always say the same thing: “Oh my God, your’re so pretty! Were you always pretty?” This is why I don’t post my pic on my blog, I’m not as funny when I’m considered “attractive”. Weird! question…personally I like being funny better.
