Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" isn't a guilty pleasure. Right?

I can’t believe it’s been eight years since Bon Jovi released "It’s My Life," and that I still like it as much as anything on the Slippery When Wet album. I feel like I should be ashamed of that (like when I admit that "Love Bites" is my favorite Def Leppard song, or that I love the Cure’s "Mint Car") but I can’t be. I’m as excited to hear it as Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles was to sing it with Bon Jovi at their 2005 CMT Crossroads concert (below). You’ve got to hear her belt out "This is for the ones who stood their ground." I get chills.

Who else loves this song?

Yeah, me too. Makes me feel sort of powerful inside… It’s a good song, isn’t it ? Right ???

This songs message to me is “Life is crappy, too bad, keep moving.” I love it. A classic.

I love this song!! and I can’t sing it in my head without hearing Jennifer Nettles’ “Frankie said I did it MY WAY!”

I didn’t really like this song when it first came out, but after seeing the Sugarland/Bon Jovi Crossroads (those Crossroads shows are great, aren’t they?), I like it a lot more, thanks to Jennifer Nettles. Girl can SING.

Anything co-written by Max Martin is a guilty pleasure (“…Baby One More Time” anyone?)

Not guilty! (But I totally love the song.)

This is an awesome song! How can you not belt it out….”I just want to live while I’m alive” Come on now…makes you think that no matter what, you can do anything! Looking forward to two shows (out of 3) next week in Toronto!

I have always loved this song – but then its hard for me to not love a Bon Jovi song!
My 11 year old loves it too, and we both sang at the top of our lungs two weeks ago when we saw Jon and the boys belt it out in concert.
I get chills when I hear this song, and it reminds me so much of 9/11, when Bon Jovi sang a version of it at the concert for NYC – very appropriate. “This is for the ones who stood their ground” took on a totally different meaning for me.

This song is mediocre and I wouldn’t even call a rock song. It’s pure pop.
I’m an old school Bon Jovi fan but it’s naive to dismiss the fact that time, pop culture, becoming sober and jon’s voice change didn’t affect their edge. The last time they were relevant to me was the early 90’s. That being said, he’s still a handsome man. That never hurts.

I love that song! It’s straightforward and powerful, and I can’t help singing along when I hear it. And I don’t feel a bit guilty about loving it, either! It’s a great song!

Nah, I am not a fan of ‘It’s my Life’ but I am a huge Bon Jovi fan, ever since ‘Runaway’ came out in 1983. The picture of Jon Bon Jovi in that video wearing those purple leather pants left a scar on me, lol. Best guilty pleasure Bon Jovi song ever? Gotta be Bad Medicine. Sing it now, 80’s heads: “That’s what you get for fallin’ in Love/ Make ya Bleed/ You get a little but it’s never enough/ It’ll get you on your knees/That’s what you get for fallin in love….’Ah, the memories…..

Ummm.. okay, yes, I love it. Fine. You dragged it out of me. And I prefer “Lovecats” to ” Mint Car” and ” When Love And Hate Collide” to ” Love Bites”.
Just don’t tell my kids. I’m trying to be cool by pretending that I know all the words to every Fall Out Boy song.
