Maybe the sight of Justin Timberlake in a stuffed Speedo will really get you howling. Or perhaps you won’t be able to resist the sight of Mike Myers pretending Verne Troyer is an Oscar statuette. Then again, it could be Jessica Alba delivering a ”one time in college” lesbian joke that finally cracks your steely façade. But I didn’t manage a single smile, let alone an actual laugh, during this woeful trailer for The Love Guru. If this is the big comedy of Summer 2008, I’m gonna stay at home and watch Overboard on cable. (Oh yeah, of course I provided a link to scenes from the 1987 classic!)

How many times did you laugh during 'The Love Guru' trailer?

Wow, that looks painfully unfunny.
I think the only redeeming quality of that film is John Oliver. I did smile a couple times, at the aforementioned Justin Timberlake and Verne Troyer-as-Oscar-statuette moments. And that was about it. But I’m sure, in a roomful of guys, I will be laughing at them, not at the actual movie.
Overboard rocks.
All I can say is that I laugh a lot more at (and with) all of you on any given day.
That hurt to watch.
And to think a writer who actually went on strike to get better treatment in hollywood wrote that.
Sadly, I feel confident that this movie will make ridiculous amounts of money.
I agree. This movie does not look funny at all. I didn’t laugh at all watching the trailer. It looks like Justin Timberlake has taken a step back in his acting career.
can this movie just not be released? i don’t want to have to dislike mike myers.
After watching that trailer, something tells me we won’t be seeing The Love Guru II or III.
I can’t wait for the “black man in hockey” jokes that will be in there. It’s gonna be AWESOME!
Oh wait, I won’t be watching it though.
That looks so horrible. I don’t think I’d even watch that on cable.
Didn’t laugh at all. I also thought Mike Myers’ accent sounded more like Austin Powers, and less Indian. Anyone else notice that?
Another “Mike Myers with an accent” movie? He can be funny but it does get old. And who are these people that think Jessica Alba can act?
Somehow I think watching “Overboard” would be a more enjoyable experience. Nobody can resist the scruffy charms of 80′s-era Kurt Russell.
