I personally think it’s awesome when people show up wearing Oscar outfits that are a little out there. If they pull it off, you can admire them for their singular, creative style (see: Cate Blanchett about 75% of the time) or at the very least let your mouth hang open and say to your sweetie, “She is NOT wearing that!” (see: Bjork, Cher) But obviously the celebs don’t like to see themselves ridiculed in Star magazine, so they generally go for the boring, safe choice. Too bad.

Renee Zellweger really pumped my ‘nads. She was definitely #1. I put Marion at #2. with as the thumbs downing about her selection – what’s the quote from “Clueless?” It might be like a Monet(?) – far afar – beautiful – up close, maybe the “fish scales” were too much. (But, us locals aren’t privileged enough to be on the red carpet).
Worse to me – Colin Farrell should have gotten a haircut, Nicole Kidman looked like she had a toilet bowl around her neck – Jennifer Hudson – way too much boobage – I’m thankful i wasn’t wearing my 3-D glasses at the time.

Ceballos, I almost spit my coffee out at the Eric Stoltz comment, and might I add, that dress was not some kind of wonderful… more like some kind of hefty cinch sack.
Hey, anyone know her story about apparently having a young lover while her older lover stays home with the kids? Now THAT’S personal style, people.

Swinton has alway had “personality” written over her forehead. Orlando was one of her best characters to date. However while I understand and respect her need to be original, wearing a Hefty Bag to an awards show does not make any statement other than “I just came back from a Disney World Character audition. My “Flower the Skunk” costume did not sit well with the interviewer”.

Overall thought it was a ho-hum year for style. Many had messy hair (Cameron Diaz) and bad makeup (Katherine Heigl) or none (Tilda) But it still shocks me to see Nicole Kidman’s face now. Lordy that woman needs to stop with the freezing, she’s destroying what beauty she has. For all her denials about having anything done, HDTV doesn’t lie and at 40, not one little line?? Not likely. It’s hard to take her seriously as an actress anymore.

Nicole looked awesome (a little plastic in the face though) and while I personally wouldn’t wear the dress Tilda had on, I think the look worked on her. I don’t get all the love for Jessica Alba’s dress though – the color wasn’t great on her and the rest of it just looked a mess….

Renee Zellweger looks like she had her hair cut by a blind person….She looked like she was losing her hair in the back, and the sides stuck out in an awkward way. Oh, and she always looks like she’s just sucked on a lemon.

I too was kinda fond of Hilary Swank’s dress. It certainly wasn’t among the 10 worst. I also liked DDL’s tux but the shoe were wrong. (Sorry, Christine, I don’t think you’ll find anyone who liked his wife’s dress!) Also, I love Cate Blanchett but did not care for this dress – and I couldn’t quite believe that not one critic made note of the maternity-briefs pantyline showing through. Now then, re Tilda: You know what’s really wrong with that dress? The sleeveless side is cut wrong. It should be a much skinnier strap, perhaps triangular in shape, with a straight neckline rather than scoop. As it is, it does just look like the other sleeve was ripped off. And I would like to see her wear a little makeup – not much, with that wonderful skin, but a little eye makeup and darker brows would do wonders. Still, she is unique.

I think Tilda Swinton never wears makeup, and she’s very kooky and offbeat. I think she owned the look and proved she’s not trying to be anyone but herself. Same for Diablo Cody, who, speaking as a Minnesotan, I don’t even like.
