Oh, no! Not another "I'm F***ing..." song!

Okay, this whole "I’m F—ing [Movie Star Name Here]" song parody thing has got to stop. The first one was funny, the second was over the top, and now this one, featuring Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen (whose actual task here is to plug the movie they’re currently shooting for Kevin Smith), simply beats the joke into the ground. Watch if you must (language is uncensored and very NSFW), then tell me if I’m right and the novelty has worn off, or if I’m wrong and there’s still life in this premise.

    ok not funny anymore

Kevin Smith stopped being funny around the time of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and he stopped being relevant around the time of Clerks 2. It’s no surprise that he has to resort to this sort of crap to promote himself these days. This is what happens when a good indie / geek-friendly filmmaker sells out.

I agree. This is the first of this kind of thing I’ve seen and I killed it after less than a minute. It’s stupid.

Yeah, I’m over it already. It’s going to become like “yo mama so fat” jokes…everyone wants to one-up the other guy and it just stops being funny.

Wow, that was pretty bad. I mean, they don’t even try. The only laugh I had was the otter comment, that was kinda funny. But even if there wasn’t a history with JKL, it would still be bad (rather than bad and overplayed). You know if Rogan’s carrer starts going downward, I think we just saw the exact moment it happened

This struck me as a tongue in cheek response to all the “I’m F*cking such and such” videos. In that vein, it succeeds. I mean, it strikes me that KS is basically saying in his own way “these videos are friggin’ stupid. Look how easy it is to make one, and I even got M. Night Shyalaman to direct”
Credit also to KS for giving Craig Robinson a cameo. The brother’s really talented and I’m glad his star is starting to shine.
Overall, not that funny but was amused by the way they’ve made fun of the genre. Hopefully, this will be the last one.
As for KS, I thought Clerks 2 was pretty good and will hold out judgement on his next flick. Seems to like he’s gone back to his roots (talkie movies with tons of pop culture references), so there’s hope.
Plus, the South Park guys demonstrated that a porn parody can be funny with Orgazmo, so there is some precedent.

it was funny when it was Sarah and Jimmy becuz of the whole “Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel” thing. THIS IS JUST STUPID!! Get a life… TWO BIG FAT NOBODYS

I was open to the possibility that this might be funny. It was painful.

The shark, she’s been jumped. Better kick that horse again there Smith, I think I saw it twitch.

I think they’re all funny in their own way. The Kevin Smith version wasn’t the best, but it was kinda cheeky and, you know, could actually use the F word, so it gets points with me for profanity.

I’m with Ep Sato in that we may not be getting the joke but all the same, it’s pretty hard to watch.

  • Chaddogg

Apparently this is not played out…the Popwatch story below this is Mariah Carey essentially singing “I’m F*&#ing Kenneth the Page”

The Matt Damon video was by far the funniest. Original and hilarious, but this one, ehhh not so much.

  • Martha

It is pretty done and over-the-top, but you know, c’mon, it’s Kevin Smith. Have to agree with Ep about including Craig Robinson, who is awesome. Nice job on that one, Kev. And the otter reference was just bizarre enough to get me to laugh.

the matt and ben ones were funny and original. there was a continuing joke to it. the back and forth of it was the best part. matt’s was original and hilarious and unpredictable. ben’s was over the top in a good, funny way.
this one…ugh. even if it’s parodying the joke, it doesn’t do a good job. it’s just not funny. the writing of it is bad. It was “let’s just use these words because we can.” seth rogen looks like he’s trying too hard. they just decided to take a funny thing and absolutely kill it.
    inevitable of course, but…still…
