Heaven help me, but I have to put Carpoolers (pictured) on my Must List. Not necessarily the whole show, which often stumbles in execution, but the brilliant cold openings, in which the four carbound commuters bang their heads and sing along to some deliciously cheesy ’80s tune. Priceless.

Right at your door on DVD
1. TILDA SWINTON in ‘Michael Clayton’ (now on DVD):
Sweaty armpits have never been more menacing!
2. No more HD-DVD wars!:
Finally I can buy a Blu-Ray player…when they finally become reasonably priced.
Pro boxing. Thanks to recent matches between superstars, the sport’s had a renaissance that makes it worth a second look.
AMC thanks to its original series: I once thought AMC was the biggest waste of cable space possible, with their edited versions of classic movies and their constant advertisements. Now my Tivo quivers whenever Breaking Bad’s on the air and I lie awake at night waiting for the new season of Mad Men.
Who’da thunk such an unhip channel could be so cool?
Michael Johns on American Idol. He’s white, from Australia, and yet he’s somehow got the soul to do a great cover of Otis Redding. Could a star be in the making?
– The Official LOST Podcast with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse – it’s back!
– Y: The Last Man – Now that Brian K. Vaughan’s masterpiece is complete, start to collect the trade paperbacks at your local bookstore.
– In the Shadow of the Moon on DVD – Snubbed by Oscar, indeed.
The Vampire Weekend album – the whole thing just puts me in a good mood. But especially Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa. It makes me want to roll my window down, turn the volume up, and sing at the top of my lungs.
James McAvoy in “Becoming Jane” on DVD. The mischief and masculinity he brings as Anne Hathaway’s romantic foil is so sexy, you have no trouble believing his character is meant to be Ms. Austen’s inspiration for the immortal Mr. Darcy.
Free Radio on Vh1…this show is so funny! Muriel’s Wedding…it’s been coming on cable alot lately and I cannot stop watching it, it’s like I’m in HS all over again…The Cool by Lupe Fiasco….finally some worthy Hip- Hop.
Besides Lost’s new episode, my BIG MUST for this week is…
PBS’ Great Performances broadcast of Stephen Sondheim’s “COMPANY” revival on tonight.
Been waiting for this ever since it was announced a good 6 months ago.
For those unfamiliar…it stars Raul Esparza (Alfredo, Pushing Daisies). Stephen Sondheim, the composer, is the man behind the Sweeney Todd musical Burton recently adapted.
Still working on my must list, but I’m so glad someone acknowledged Carpoolers. I loovvvveee that show.
Zineb Oukach in “Rendition.” Though the movie is, at times, very unbalanced in tone and execution, Oukach’s performance (her first major role according to IMDB) as a girl who finds herself way in over her head with her family and the boy she loved was enthralling and breathtaking. When her heart breaks, yours does as well. Here’s hoping she gets a lot more mainstream work in the future.
Ace of Cakes! I adore this show beyond all reason, and I know I’m not the only one. It’s one of the top-rated shows on the Food Network. The cakes are gorgeous and the staff is hilarious and awesome.
1. Heretic Pride by the Mountain Goats. Hands down their best album in years, for the return to fictional lyrical storytelling, and finally figuring out how to translate his lo-fi acoustic background to a full band setting.
2. The Farrell/Gleason/Fiennes trio in In Bruges. Farrell hasn’t been this likable in a movie in some time.
3. The All Songs Considered podcast. Hit its stride this month with two shows featuring user-submitted “bands to call your own” and an amazing interview with Thom Yorke.
Carpoolers! My boyfriend and I were convinced we were the only people who watched this show. It’s really quite funny, though I agree they occasionally stumble in execution.
The new Editors album
The Oscars-Just to see if Stewart will get Colbert and O’Brien on the show
Dexter on CBS!
I love carpoolers; is it back on?
1. Now on DVD — Dedication
This indie gem boasts a phenomenal (as always) performance by Billy Crudup and a mature performance by the absolutely gorgeous Mandy Moore. I LOVED LOVED this movie.
2. In Treatment (HBO series)
This show started off slow, but it’s becoming a can’t-miss.
3. Red Velvet cupcakes
Because I really really want one right now. Yummy cream cheese icing.
Kelly Clarkson “My December”
It’s a poor substitute for America’s Next Top Doll, but since America’s Next Top Model starts tonight, I have to give it some love. After spending my day with politicians, it’s nice to “get away,” with this trashy, sleazy show.
I agree with a previous poster – the new Vampire Weekend album is a lot of fun. My daughter shared it when she was home from college a couple weekends ago, and I like.
One Tree Hill. Now that we have sexy nannies and smarter-than-you-think bartenders, this show is fast becoming the new Melrose Place.
Mad Men series reruns on AMC Sundays at Midnight
I second Vampire Weekend! I’ve listened to their self-titled album twice already today!
The L Word–pretty ladies, fun storylines and good acting. And say what you want about the oil wrestling–rolling around in goo was never sexier (and I’m straight!).
Rufus Wainwright–love his recreation of Judy Garland’s concert at Carnegie Hall. I had the privilege to see him on tour this summer–amazing.
1. Lil Mama- She makes a very smart and sassy judge on America’s Best Dance Crew. Not only that, her remix of Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” makes me actually like the song.
2. Douglas Adams- I would like to thank the man whom has influenced so many countless musicians, writers, directors and actors that it’s impossible to list them all here.
3. Ben Linus on Lost- Every week this character becomes more nuanced, more intricate, more interesting that I’m not so sure he’s the bad guy he once appeared to be. ANd I sure can’t wait to find out.
The only thing good about Carpoolers is Marmaduke, that kid is gold!!!
1. Jericho is back on. Now I can get my weekly conspiracy every tuesday at nine.
2. Marmaduke on “Carpoolers.” T.J. Miller steals the show every week, just like he stole every scene in “Cloverfield.”
3. Jack Johnson “Sleep Through The Static” The mellow surfer has finally lit a fire under his slacker behind thanks to piano playing A.L.O. frontman Zach Gill

I think you should include the new TVFan.ew.com site. It’s great to finally have an outlet for all the things I wanted to say about TV but never could.
HBO’s In Treatment
Gina Carano aka Crush from NBC’s American Gladiators and MMA.
Not sure if this is Must List-worthy, but I think definitely worth a blog post — The Top 25 Progressive Films.
You don’t typically think of Think Tanks being are into pop culture, but the Center for American Progress put out a list of the Top 25 Progressive Films. It includes Dr. Strangelove, Good Night, and Good Luck, An Inconvenient Truth, etc.
You can vote for your favorite films on their list, but unfortunately, you can’t suggest others. I wanted to suggest Caddy Shack – ha.

Charlie Bartlett!
The new season of Lost. After every episode I am left slack-jawed, wide-eyed and speechless at the twists and turns this show makes.
