Yeah, a lot of people have huge problems with Jack and Charlie from Lost, but I absolutely loved them.
Also love Meredith from Grey’s BECAUSE she has such issues. And I always liked Sara on CSI.
I have no problems with Morgan on Chuck. Oh, and on the Supernatural front, I loved Jo, until the fans got her kicked off the show. Oh well!
“my friend and I”
The O.C. definitely comes to mind. There were a lot of characters I wanted to punch in the face. I was happy when Marissa died. I was happy when Johnny died. And I was happy when they got rid of Oliver. I’m sure I could list even more. But man, my friend actually liked Johnny. I should have punched her in the face.
Also, the old woman on Farscape that Crieghton refers to as Grandma. Annoyed the hell out of me.
I always liked Prue (Shannon Doherty) on “Charmed.” I thought she was a much better character than the one they replaced her with. Paige (Rose McGowan) seriously got on my nerves for the first two seasons she was on. After that, I got used to her.
Also, as a HUGE fan of “Lost,” I know it’s terribly unpopular to say that I do not like Locke’s character. For someone who claims to be acting in the best interest of those around him, he does everything by lying and manipulating, and in actuality seems most to be acting in his own self-interest. Yet everyone else seems to love him. Go figure… I do love Charlie and Hurley, though!
Count me among the grammar police too. “Me and my friend figured out” is pretty bad for a non-amateur blog.
As for characters, a lot of people seem to think Serena van der Woodsen of Gossip Girl is too perfect, but I love her. I also MUCH preferred Melrose to any other girl on her season of ANTM. The other models were just jealous!
I love Jenny Schecter on The L Word. If you ever see the recaps of that show on PopWatch, you can see that the fans absolutely hate her. I, however, think she is hilarious. I do have to mention that I have never hated a character on TV more than I hated Connor on Angel.
I HATE Cyclops from the X Men. He’s whiney, preachy and was inexplicably kept as the leader of that team after it’d changed from “lame” to “cool” in the 1970s. That he beefed with Logan over Jean Grey for so many years (only to cheat on her and leave her for the White Queen. Which was after he’d cheated on Madelyne Pryor and left her for Jean Grey) only makes me hate him more.
As a result of my Cyclops hatred, I dislike anything with James Marsden because he played that role.
My other personal “hate” is for The Others on Lost. After all the hype, they’ve struck me as the lamest villains of all time. And the way the heroes kept getting outsmarted by them got me so upset that I stopped watching Lost altogether last season and won’t be coming back. The Others ruined that show for me.
For me it all started when I realized I liked Patricia Kalember’s character Susannah on thirtysomething. Now there was a character that everyone HATED!
and I LOVED Ana Lucia on Lost. Another one everyone hated.
I really like Don Draper on Mad Men and I am not sure why. If I ever met that character and he spoke to me like he speaks to everyone on the show I would slap him. Not to mention he would probably be blowing smoke in my face, which would drive me up a wall. I understand he is flawed and the main chanracter and we are supposed to like him (I think) but he really is very unlikeable. (Although the hotness of Jon Hamm might be helping.)
Yeah, Ames, I had no particular love for Nikki and Paulo either, but I didn’t hate them or wish for their death (although their death was cool!). Sorta with Courtney, in that I liked Piz, but not with in that I detested Logan Echolls. That was the one area in which Veronica was not the smartest person in town.
Holla on the Julie Taylor love.
She actually reminds me a lot of myself at 16: good in school, into writing/indie music/dance, wanting to break out of her small town, thinks she knows a whole lot more than she actually does.
Keep in mind that she’s had a different upbringing than most of the other characters on the show: two parents who have stayed together and have a great relationship, no need to contribute to her household financially, no one to take care of. In other words, she hasn’t had to grow up as fast as Matt, Tyra, Smash, Riggins, Lyla, etc. Therefore, she’s more sheltered and naive, so she acts more her age.
And to whomever hated Logan on Gilmore Girls: ME TOO. He was a little too slick for me, and I never fully believed him and Rory. Jess was never my favorite either, but I always thought he had genuine feelings for her.
shame on the Cyclops hate! he IS X-men!
Ooh, and in FNL-land: I can’t stand Lyla. Never could. Y’all reminded me now that she’s dating the creepy Gilmore Logan. A little analysis: I think a lot of the reason some folks hate Julie is because she mistreats our beloved Eric and Tami. At least, that’s what it is for me. But yes, she’s totally typically teenaged.
Sylar from Heroes. He is so evil and yet I am very attracted to him.
