As you probably know by now, it’s the Super Bowl this Sunday, and even those of us who watch it just for the commercials (guilty!) and the excuse to pound a 40 on a school night, have a new reason to tune in, courtesy of our corporate siblings at Sports Illustrated. Check out their very funny gallery of potential casting ideas for "Super Bowl: The Movie." James Cromwell as Tom Coughlin? Laurence Fishburne as Michael Strahan? Or how about Ned Beatty as Robert Kraft? Wouldn’t the phrase "tossing the ol’ pigskin around" take on entirely new and awkward shades of meaning?
Funniest choices: Haley Joel Osment (right) as Eli Manning (left; SI points out that they both still look like they’re 11 years old) and Tom Brady as Tom Brady (apparently, not even Hollywood can top the golden-boy quarterback’s own performance as himself).
How about you, PopWatchers? Are you going to watch the game? If so, who would you cast in your own movie version of the Super Bowl?

that was quite entertaining actually- especially the first few.
i could definitely see cromwell as couglin.
haley joel osment as eli manning is hilarious. i can definitely see it. same with Fab from Milli Vanilli as Laurence Maroney.
Tiffani Thiessen as Bridget Moynahan: well i do always like to see Kelly from Saved by the Bell.
That was pretty damn funny. It was so good that I can’t really think of suggestions that would be any better.
Also, I can’t wait until Daniel Day Lewis re-emerges about three years from now having fully transformed himself into Randy Moss (I’m not gonna bet against him).
I would NEVER doubt Daniel Day Lewis…that’s just asking for trouble ahah. Also, as a female, I find Tom Brady as Tom Brady a truly inspired casting choice.
That was funny. I’m going to watch the big game, now w/ renewed interest. Every single time I see Eli Manning without his helmet on, I will see Haley Joel Osment. I hate Tom Brady, so him playing himself, that would make the movie unwatchable for me.
Matt Damon as Tom Brady.
For Junior Seau, I vote for Erik Estrada.
I vote for Tom Arnold as Bill Belichek and Roseanne as Tom Brady…
I hate both teams and want them both to lose…but you can tell by my name that I am just bitter (and with good reason)!
Greg Kinear as Troy Aikman (who will be doing commentary for the blessed event).
Heat Miser as Giants coach Tom Coughlin
Eli Manning and Haley Joel Osment aren’t 11 years old?
James Cromwell has a lot of work to do to act as cranky-pants as Tom Coughlin. And whatever you say about Bill Belichick (and who doesn’t?) I don’t think he’s quite as passive-aggressive as Lumberg. But DDH as Randy? Brilliant!
my favorite–Bill Lumberg as Bill Belichek.
Genius
I just got up off the ground after the split screen of Eli & Haley – so awesome and so on-point!
I don’t know who you can find to play Lawrence Tynes (?), the kicker for the Giants, but I saw him on Letterman last week and I’ve been crushing ever since.
Love, love the Osment/Manning resemblance. It’s a bit uncanny. Perhaps the flaming Eye of Sauron could play Coach Belichick – anyone see the scary bloodshot eye he was sporting after the regular season Pats/Giants game?
There is no one hot enough to play Tom Brady but himself. On this, I think 90% of the female population agrees. And there should be some gratuitous shirtless shots.
DDL as Randy Moss – genius. Michael Clark Duncan as Plexico Burress perhaps?
Casey Affleck as Wes Welker – the little actor that could as the little wide receiver that could.
