Everybody loves the Golden Raspberries, and why not? In a long, drawn-out awards season where wealthy, glamorous folks take home trophy upon trophy upon trophy, it’s nice to have a bitchy, non-congratulatory antidote. Heck, Oscar winner Halle Berry showed up to collect her own Worst Actress trophy for Catwoman back in 2005. Viva, Razzies!
And yet I’ve got a beef with the folks behind the ceremony. Look at the films that led the pack when Razzie nominations were announced earlier today: I Know Who Killed Me grabbed nine, while Norbit and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry got slapped with eight apiece. Having actually attended two out of those three films for I Saw It So You Don’t Have To — Killed Me (pictured, left) almost killed me, Chuck and Larry made me want to (up)Chuck — I can’t argue they’re not worthy, and yet, what about the woeful performances that mucked up otherwise good (or at least decent) movies? Or the totally abysmal efforts by actors who you’d normally expect to be fantastic? It’s one thing to shoot at fish in a barrel such as Jessica Alba in Awake, but I feel like the Razzie committee ought to be digging deeper, making sure they "honor" not just the obviously bad, but the unexpectedly awful as well.
While watching Live Free or Die Hard on demand a few weeks back,I couldn’t get over the way Timothy Olyphant (pictured, right) suckedall the energy from the room every time he appeared as computer-savvybaddie Thomas Gabriel. Where the heck is his Razzie nod? (Apologies tomy pal Mandi Bierly, who’s a big fan, and who’s just announced she’snot speaking to me for the next 15 minutes.) While we’re on the topic, who else deserves to have their subpar work celebrated, GoldenRaspberry-style? Let’s start the list of snubs in the comments sectionbelow!

Everone involved with “skinwalkers” a sub-par Werewolf movie that was aiming I think at being a bit like “Underworld” but came up looking more like one of those made fo syndication action/adventure shows that flourished in the late 90′s.
Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman 3 or anything she is in
Julia Stiles in Bourne Ultimatum, actually in all bourne movies. Then again, since this is just for 2007 then Bourne Ultimatum.
The only one I can think of (that I really hated) was Knocked Up. I think Katherine Heigel is WAY overrated and completely de-void of talent.
Yes they need to honor MORE bad works – “dig deeper” — Michael you set the bar for bitchery high, so kudos!
Snubbed:
WORST ACTOR:
John Travolta, William Macy, Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen, WIld Hogs (the adult male BRATZ?!)
WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
John Turturro, Transformers

WORRST ACTRESS:
Scarlett Johansson, The Prestige
Jessica Biel, The Illusionist
WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Sienna Miller, Stardust
First of all, Slezak how can you ever say anything bad about Timothy Olyphant? The man is a totally underrated god! And to Strepsi- I will give you Wild Hogs but where on earth are you coming from for the rest of your little nominations? Do you have something against young, talented actresses doing great semi-indie movies? Because all three of those women were excellent in each of those wonderful films! Actually this goes out to the other 3 posters as well- why all the actress bashing? All these women are great actresses (okay maybe not Julia Stiles, but she isn’t that bad). I am not impressed by the bashing of these roles. Women in Hollywood have enough trouble as it is with the crappy roles there are available to them. And with the exception of Stardust, each of those movies is male-centered and the women are ancillary characters whose only purpose is to further the male lead’s story line. Yeesh!
Mandy Moore totally should have been nominated for “Because I Said So.” She tried to play it sweet but in the end she came off more sour than the Raspberry she deserved.

I think Evening deserves special mention for movie intended to be moving and ending up a hackneyed crap fest. You take the greatest female actresses today and put them in a movie that wouldn’t cut it as a Hallmark Hall of Fame schlockfest.
300 should have been up for lead actor and movie and countless other awards. I see better movies on MST3K.
How about Spiderman-3 for worst movie of the year. They made so much money and should give it all back. Just awful. The acting was pathetic – Tobey Maguire and James Franco were miserable. Kirsten Dunst is always horrible so that was expected.
Slezak, you had it right when “Transformers” came out.
Although I dug his work in the movie (I thought his looniness was refreshing AND jarring in an otherwise enjoyably dumb movie), it HAS to be John Turturro in “Transformers”. It’s a (fun)bad movie with a good actor giving a bad performance.
