Monster.com produces an ad with legs!

Tags:

If you’re anything like me, most commercial breaks zip past you in a blissful, DVR-driven, fast-forward blur. But last week during Idol, I slowed down to watch this strange, poetic spot from Monster.com, and I have to say: Despite the abomination that was Cavemen, I’m kinda hoping one of the networks rolls the dice and builds an entire dramedy around the big-legged dude and his quirky European village. What say you? Are you voting ‘Yay’ or ‘Nay’ on Legs coming to network TV for the Fall ’08 season?

No way! Those legs grossed me out. (Although, I too was intrigued by the strange commercial and watched, AND remembered it was monster.com, so they did their job well!)

    Um, ew, No!

I had to avert my eyes from those freakish thighs. I’m serious.

Brilliant. I’d love to know more. What other kinds of jobs might be out there for people with abnormal abilities. I think you’re onto something…

Yeah, great idea for an ad campaign, but not so much for a series. I missed this little gem while ff’ing on my DVR.

I’m going to have to go with nay. It’s a cute commercial, the first time, but as a series…no.

now that was funny! but a series? no.

I could see it as part of a documentary/reality series about people with really weird or unusual jobs, but just as a series about the dude with the big thighs. Nope. Don’t think so. But it’s a great ad.

10 seconds left in the commercial
    Me: Why’d everything shake?
Me(again): ohh, he turns the world!
    pretty cool, must say

It didn’t take long for the commercials to start being more entertaining than the tv shows. Please bring us new shows (!) and, no, not about men with giant thighs. Awesome and effective as an ad, though.

No way. Cool ad (and cool ad series) but doesn’t have the legs to make a decent TV pilot. (Heh heh, get it, legs? I crack myself up.)

Series, no. Commercial, no. I think the commercial Monster did with the people on the tracks is good, but this one misses the mark. Besides, the actual website for Monster is horrible! I am so sick and tired of trying to find a job and seeing all the bogus jobs or that infernal University of Phoenix application!

I love this spot. It’s by far the best ad I’ve seen in years. It’s such a beautiful piece of storytelling. Whoever worked on it deserves a raise!

  • Joe McMillan

This is the best piece of entertainment I’ve seen in forever. And the fact that it actually connects and sells and makes a great case for monster, well that’s just gravy.

  • Midnight Assassin

Hands down, best commercial ever. Funny, smart, adorable, sci-fi, storybook, fantasy, all rolled up into one. All other commercials are not worthy.
