I LOVE THIS SHOW! There is nothing more to say. except Kyle Chandler. Connie Britton and Taylor Kitsch not only deserve, but are OWED Emmys. NBC WAKE UP! AND promote this show!
I love this show, the depth of the characters, the cast is amazing. I hope that NBC starts promoting it more. It’s a show that needs to stay on the air.
omar…refs dont give away “free” tds, regardless of where they might “think” a player would end up…
I hope they let the Riggins brothers get away with taking that money. Perhaps Tim will just get called in to testify that Guy is a meth dealer and that will be the end of it. The great thing about FNL is that they take plot developments in unexpected directions sometimes. There are so many great characters that they don’t have to always take the obvious paths on plot.
I agree that NBC should just re-run every FNL episode during the strike. I think people would really love this show if they could figure out when it’s on. It’s the only drama out there that’s not some sort of crime or medical thing, and it fills a really unique niche. I love it.
I seriously believe that NBC hates this show. I watch a few shows on NBC throughout the week and I don’t think I have ever seen a preview for Friday Night Lights on any night other than early Friday. Whereas, every other show gets promoted at least 50 times a night every night. It’s just not fair. FNL is in my opinion the best drama this network has on the air. And one of the top 5 on TV, period. Too bad the suits at NBC don’t agree.
Still the best show on TV. I totally agree that Kyle Chandler deserves at least an Emmy nom, and I’d like to add that one of the things that makes him such a great actor is when he’s not saying a word. He can say more with one look, with one gesture, than most actors can with a page of dialogue. This was another strong episode overall. It continues to be all about family; even the soapy blip involving the opposing coach’s wife was OK since we all know how that news affected Coach Taylor. This show is absolutely the top reason the writers’ strike has to end soon.
It’s sad the lack of respect that FNL gets. It is easily one the best shows on tv.
That was a really great episode. I mean, this post would be wayyyy too long if I mentioned specifics, but… Damn. I tell everyone I know that this is the best show on TV. I’m trying to convert them one at a time… ha.
I really don’t understand what NBC has against this show. It’s fawned over incessantly (have you ever heard anyone say they hate this show??? I’ve even heard people say they hate The Office, but NEVER FNL!) It’s apparently very cheap to produce. But not only did they relegate it to the Friday graveyard at the beginning of this season (with a weak explanation), now they have nothing new on and they’re KEEPING IT THERE. There are no words, NBC. I love a lot of their shows, but DAMN. There’s nothing on anymore and you don’t give it a better timeslot? Hell, you could put reruns of 1st and 2nd season eps on other nights and get people hooked and, I dunno, get you’re ratings up.
Networks are beyond me.
The show wasn’t quite as good as the previous week, but not bad. Stealing from a meth dealer is just the next bad, “after school special” plot twist that the writers will have to dig their way out of. Still, some very nice scenes with the coach apologizing to Riggins, and Smash and his mother. That Larrabee coach needs more of a comeuppance–I figured he had some sort of mitigating factor that would explain all his bad behavior, but it doesn’t really. Pretty sure that his interference in the game would cause his team to forfeit–notice, he said he wouldn’t be coaching again any time soon. Love the show and I’m surprised, too, that NBC won’t do more to promote it. This could be big if given the right push.
I just have to complain about NBC’s TOTAL lack of promotion for this wonderful show. I have been looking for previews for new shows since New Year’s Day. I just happened to catch a brief mention of a possible new episode on 1/11. When I opened my DVR to watch it, I happened to see an episode taped on 1/4 that I had no idea about. It is atrocious that NBC does not promote this glorious show more.
I have never, ever, EVER in all my years of TV watching, loved a character like Eric Taylor… because he’s not a character. He’s a man, just like a man I’d know from down the street. Kyle Chandler inhabits him to such an amazing degree that I shiver… If this show gets canned without him getting an Emmy, I will want to cry. It’s the role of a lifetime. I’d rather watch his performance than that of any Oscar winning movie role… because like I said, being from a small town, it’s the most real thing I’ve ever seen. It’s beautiful. I can’t believe anyone’s ever been that natural before.
FNL is like a neglected child. i can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for cast and crew to put out an amazing show week and after week and then just be ignored…is america really that dumbed-down by reality shows? there are so many emmy-caliber performances on FNL..when i get in fights with my 17 year old daughter – i actually think – how would tami handle this??? and why isn’t riggins on the cover of SOMETHING? he is quite possibly the most beautiful man in the history of the world. and he isn’t just eye candy..his acting is stellar…i gave out a lot of season one dvd’s as holiday gifts this year..i hope i recruited more fans…and i hope the next few eps incorporate more story lines like season one did..there was always SO much going on in every ep of season one. NBC wake up and pay some attention to FNL!!!!
“Oh, Tim,” I said out loud to my TV. I rarely do that. I do hope this doesn’t turn into another killer-Landry-style plotline, but I do appreciate that the writers remind us that Tim may at times be noble and soft-hearted but he’s also still a dumb kid who can’t remember how scared shitless he was last time he saw Meth Ferret. And like everyone else, I had chills – CHILLS – at the brilliant but succinct expression of Eric’s profound disappointment in Julie. Ya know, I start to think maybe no one at NBC has ever seen this show. How else to explain its complete disregard?
Other than the introduction of another sure-to-be melodramtic plot involving the stolen drug money, I thought this episode was great. I must admit I’m going to miss having Jessalyn Gilsig and Brooke Langton around. I’m not really seeing how Shelley was an annoying character. She just seemed to annoy the Taylors, which actually lead to some great scenes for Tami, but she never really annoyed me as a viewer. One thing that did kind of annoy me was how clueless Smash’s mom was about the recruiting process.
I’m hoping that we never see the meth dealer again, but it’s just the kind of thing a show would do.
I think Riggins sees Julie as a little sister, not a girlfriend.
I loved how everyone grew up a little this week — Smash with his mom, Julie telling her dad the truth, Tami’s sister moving out, coach being a father figure for Smash and Riggins.
Love FNL!
