The trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hit the Web a couple weeks ago, and it’s so excellent, I’m surprised it hasn’t generated more buzz. A dark tone with a real sense of urgency seems to have replaced the lighter, magical quality that marked 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (even though the latter flick tackled themes of death and resurrection). And unlike the book for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, I have no real memory of the fourth book in the C.S. Lewis series–hey, I read it a good 20 years ago–which makes me more open to seeing the film, if that’s possible. How about you?

I’m very excited about this movie. Prince Caspian is one of my favorites in the series, but for some reason I always imagined him as being younger than what he is in the trailer.
If Caspian is anything like Lion, Witch and Wardrobe then NO, I’m not even a little excited about it.
I never read “Prince Caspian” so I’m very excited to see it.
yes very much, even more than the last. i didn’t really like the last movie much, so i’m excited this one has action scenes that look kind of similar to gladiator and lord of the rings. i’m in.
SECOND BOOK. They scrambled the books and are packaging them in chronological order these days (which is absolutely imbecilic, IMHO,) but Caspian is really the second book.
Honestly, I’m more looking forward to ‘Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ and ‘The Silver Chair’, which were my favorites growing up. I always glossed over Caspian on rereads.
Ooh, this looks good. “Prince Caspian” was never my favorite in the series (that would be “The Horse and His Boy”) but I’m psyched. I just hope that in ratcheting up the action level of the story (a good third of the book is flashback, recounting Caspian’s origins and upbringing) they don’t lose the flavor and themes of the original.
Had no idea that the trailer was out, looks great. I enjoyed Lion, Witch, Wardrobe so this will be a nice summer treat.
Looks decent. Maybe i’ll rent it, didn’t like the first one.
I have to confess a teensy bit of interest in the Prince Caspian part of the “Prince Caspian” trailer–I’ve had my eye on Ben Barnes ever since he was cast, and I have to say, he’s Brandon-Routh level of airbrushed perfection. I grew up with the goofy low-budget Narnia movies, and I even dug THEIR goofy version of Caspian, so I’m guessing there might be an inappropriate crush in the works here.
…Not exactly the point of the post, I know. But I had to share my shame–admitting it is the first step, right?
“Prince Caspian” is the 3rd book chronilogically, not the 2nd. The 1st book is “The Magician’s Nephew” and not “The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe” like e veryone thinks. In any case, although I’m psyched for the movie, I agree with Martha. My favorite book of the series was “The Horse and His Boy.”
Prince Caspian looks way too old to me, too. The accent doesn’t seem right either. Still, I’m excited about seeing this in May – and as with the first one, I will endeavour to forget the book version of the story!
As for the chronological order of the books, that depends on which chronology you are referring to. If it is Narnia’s then the order would be The Magician’s Nephew; Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; The Horse and His Boy; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; The Silver Chair; The Last Battle. Not all of them will get filmed though …
I have no real memory of the Chronicles of Narnia books either…I always confused “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” with “A Wrinkle in Time.” They should make THAT book into a movie. They should also really make the book “Heyday” into a movie.
I’m psyched
Yeah it really irks me how they package the books these days. That’s not the order I read them in when I was a kid. I’m excited to see Prince Caspian, I remember wanting to eat apples after ever reading. To me it sounds like they will go in the original order. I’m doubting The Magicians Nephew and A Horse and His Boy will ever get made.
trailer looks awesome
