This whole baseball steroids scandal baffles and bewilders me — how can a pop-culture geek like yours truly get a handle on it? Hat tip, then, to our corporate siblings over at Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, who gave me a point of entry via Jason Priestley (pictured). Sure, the actor’s mention in association with this saga is tenuous and tangential, but Extra Mustard helpfully reminds us that that the connection goes a wee bit deeper, with Barry Bonds having appeared on Beverly Hills 90210 back in the day (see clips here and here). If any of you, dear readers, can find another pop-cultural angle to help explain this mess to me, let me know below.

Remember that Jose Canseco was in VH1’s Surreal Life the same season as Janice Dickinson and Omarosa. Given that Jose features prominently in the Mitchell Report and is someone who claims to have hooked up others looking for enhancement, might the Janice-Omarosa blowups that season been the product of roid rage?
and who can forget that episode of the simpsons where BOTH canseco and clemens were part of the nuclear plants softball team! homer’s victory there is even better in light of the steriods on the other side (wonder if that’s why Jr’s head really got so big!)

steroids generally improve recovery times and help the body to basicly build muscle,
the media seem to think that when people take anabolic steroids that they turn in to super man and that those ppl or athletes have an enormous advantage,
i do agree that sport should be a level playing field,
i do believe that steroids should be used as a medical application and regulated,
this will stop any apparent unfair advantage,
and not to mention keep our sports stars and athletes safer from injury!
