After being the TV Watch writer for The Real World: Denver season, I vowed never to watch the show again. What with Colie’s drunkenness, Jenn’s looseness, and Brooke’s all-around psychosis, I figured I had paid my dues to the reality-show gods three-fold.
Fast-forward to the premiere of the Sydney season a few months back, where cast members Kelly Anne and Trisha ganged up on Parisa before the first shrimp landed on the barbie. I’m not sure how or why it happened, but suddenly, I found myself reeled into to yet another RW house. Dammit!
Anyhow, the juiciest drama this season has involved the "ladies," and last night it came to a climax. So much so that I begged my PopWatch editors to let me do a blog post on the ridiculousness (thanks, guys!).
So here’s the setup: Last week, Trisha (a self-righteous, judgmental California girl and self-proclaimed child of God) shoved Parisa (a native New Yorker who is just as stubborn as she is insightful), after Parisa refused to get off the phone. That was a no-no. Physical violence is not allowed in any RW house (which is apparently written into their iron-clad contracts…probably right below the line that says, "You must drink any and all alcohol put in front of you, live damage or not!"). That incident left Parisa with a choice last night: Boot Trisha from the house, or resolve their issues and continue living under one roof.
Long story short: Parisa said buh-bye to Trisha, leaving Cohuttabewildered, Dunbar happy ("Trisha was definitely by far the mostmanipulative, most conniving, calculating person in the house," he declared), andKelly Anne and Ashli enraged. (Seventh roomie, Isaac, however, has beenMIA ever since his bewildering run-in with a black bird.)
The sequence of events following the eviction—including Trisha’s partingwords to Parisa: "I’m the one who speaks what everyone else thinks thatyou’re worth, and you’re nothing"—might as well have been staged in an 8th-grader cafeteria. Kelly Anne and Ashli (who barely knew Trisha, since she justreplaced ex-roommate Shauvon) paired up to form "Team Trisha," and vowed to make Parisa’slife a living hell. This led to classy tactics like spitting on the glassof the phone room while Parisa was in it. Maybe next week they can toilet-paper herbed and spread a rumor that she cheated on a test!
I can see why some of the roomies are mad; Parisa’s decision was harsh, as is pretty much everything she does. But on theother hand, I also think it was commendable that Parisa didn’t let a bully use physical force to intimidate her.
So, assuming I’m not the only person alive still watching this show (and not afraid to admit it), here’s what I want to know: Whichteam are you on? And is this perhaps the most childishand catty RW season yet? Finally, isn’t Ashli’s arrogance/fake laugh more annoying than Parisa and Trisha combined? team parisa!!
The most offensive people on this show are Ashli and Dunbar. Dunbar, who pretends to be faithful to his girlfriend Juli, all the while humping Ashli in the bar and looking at her with his tongue hanging out, is a complete jerk–and Ashli was an instigator from day one. Parisa is a snot and is as self-righteous as Trisha, and while I definitely think Trisha should shut up about her Christianity, because Christians don’t want her representing them, if I were her and Parisa mentioned something about “you’d better hope nothing happens to them”–meaning on the plane ride they were about to take–I would’ve wanted to shove her too. Parisa got just as nasty as Trisha during the course of this show, and she went after everyone’s man, too. She just wasn’t as hypocritical, religion-wise, and she pretends to take the high road in the end, where as Trisha can’t keep her mouth shut. I think both girls are idiots, but I’d be on Team Trisha because of Parisa’s singing and fawning over Dunbar. gag.
Oh my god. I still watch this show. Why do I watch it? I have no idea. Honestly, no idea at all. But I do, and no one else I know does, so I’m really happy you wrote a blog post about it.
I think Parisa did what she should have, though she is certainly not blameless for the fact that things had become so acrimonious. There were times when she should have been more self-aware and kind. But MY LORD, I have never encountered a person with less self-awareness than Tricia. As to the rest of your questions, Ashli is more annoying than Tricia and Parisa, and it is truly the most childish season, followed by San Diego in a close second. (Why am I still watching this show?) But good heavens, what with the prevalence of almost sex and black birds, it sure is intriguing.
I am definitely on Team Parisa! I have not liked Trisha since the very first episode, so I was happy to see her go. She was very manipulative and always lying. The way she tried to act like she was the bigger person because she apologized, even though she wasn’t sorry and was just doing what her dad told her to do, pretty much sums up the kind of person she is.
I am definitely not on Team Tricia because of all of her “christian” righteous indignation. Had I been in Parisa’s position, I would have done the same thing. But, I don’t think Parisa wanted her out because of the threat of continued violence. That was the excuse. I think that they didn’t get along and that their fights were escalating in such a way that it was starting to be really damaging emotionally. I think Parisa sent her home for that reason. And I think she was right to do so. I think that Kelli Ann and Ashli (WTF is up with the spelling of her name?) are being babies, but are young and will get tired of ignoring Parisa. The only reason they ever had a problem with her was because Tricia instigated it. But truthfully, my biggest concern right now is when we’re going to start hearing about all of the domestic battery charges against Dunbar – that guy has some serious anger issues and the way he talks to his girlfriend has me worried for her safety.
I am so glad that you wrote this blog post! I hate that I still watch this stupid show… my personal favorite Trisha moment was when she got pissed at Parisa for flirting with “her” man (Alex?), and then Shauvon was on her side because of “girl code”. What!?? Ridiculous. I’m so glad she got sent home, but the show will be more boring without her there to be completely psychotic.
team isaac and cohutta — the only two straight-forward people on the show. cohutta’s sometimes pretty harsh but he speaks his mind. i think isaac’s the same way. everyone else seems to talk behind everyone else’s back, especially the girls. and has there ever been a RW season with more cast changes? how can there still be 2 1/2 more months of footage?
Team Parissa, mos def. Trisha is the epitome of the`vain, manipulative young girls you see on My Sweet 16. She just hasn’t grown up. I would have kicked out not because she pushed me, but because we don’t need another self righteous “Christian” reality-show character. ENOUGH ALREADY!
Hate to say it, but if I were Parisa and Trisha had pushed me over, I would’ve just gotten up and decked her. Trisha is such a mean-spirited person, and I can’t believe that she goes out of her way to talk about her Christianity and then immediately makes Parisa-is-fat jokes. She’s the definition of the cruel and spoiled SoCal princess. That’s not to say that Parisa is perfect… she’s unbearably annoying and plays the victim card way too well. Together they made excellent trash television. I probably shouldn’t be watching, but I am!
Team Parisa and it’s b/c of the way everyone in the house has treated her. Thank goodness, Parisa did not back down when there was the house meeting. Tricia is the worst kind of Christian…the kind that constantly that spouts what “good Christians” they are when you just know they aren’t. Goodbye to the rubbish..now if only Assli would go!
We’re living in the 21st century; what is it with the fact that there can only be one phone in the house? MTV knows that this is a great way to create drama, which is the only reason for it.
It’s interesting how everyone talks about what a bad representative Tricia is of Christianity. Funny thing, I don’t remember anyone ever saying that Christians had to be perfect. Believe me, we mess up just like anyone else. The difference is that we know we’re saved by grace and not by what we do. Tricia is a Christian who has a lot of growing up to do. You know who gets it? Tricia’s dad, when he told her to ger back there and apologize to Parisa. That’s a Christian attitude.
BTW, I don’t see Parisa acting in accordance with her Muslam faith; or do we just expect less from someone who says they are Muslam than someone who says they are Christian?
Every year, I vow not to watch the Real World & yet get sucked in every year. Is MTV somehow transmitting an opiate-like signal through my MTV? Solid ep. Parisa had no choice but give Tricia the boot. I had the feeling that there are some racial undertones that are at play as well.
Those girls are so clueless as to think the guys would still want Tricia in house. I can’t wait for the reunion show when hopefullythe audience is wise enough to boo everytime she opens her mouth. To call Parisa ‘fat’ was beyond pathetic. Everything out of her mouth is a joke, including her praying for gay people. I hope her boyfriend is smart enough to dump her, but seeing as though he was stupid enough to go out with her in the first place, chances are they are still together.
Janet, stop defending your religion. people say that about Trisha because she claims to be an amazing person and a great Christian, then she says terrible things and acts incredibly catty, thinking that its ok to do those things bc she believes in G-d. parisa never claims to be the perfect Muslim, just a Muslim. there lies the difference.
wasnt trisha the one who mocked some McDonald’s cashier for not speaking english well?? and she calls herself a good christian?
Parisa has gotten on my nerves but she seems the closest to reality out of all of the girls and I’m glad she got rid of Trisha..cuz trisha wouldve just resorted to her old ways after thanking perisa for not kicking her out
whats also funny is how those two acted with that one guy..theyd get pissed at each other for “sharing” him and he would lie to them about which one he likes more..a sane girl wouldve been like ok youre messing with a girl whos got a man (trisha) and you want to be a player sooo im peacin out
im ashamed that these people are my age
I am so embarrassed that morons like Assli and Kelly Anne troll the earth. Trisha is lucky that Parisa didn’t charge her with assault especially when everything was caught on camera. Watching a RW episode is draining thanks to Trisha’s negativity and bitterness. I hope that all the girls start growing up fast. I would be scared if any of them have off springs at their current bitter and petty state.
Team Parisa. I never liked Trisha. I think she is a B****. I hope when she is watching the show. That she see’s how much of a B**** she is and maybe grow-up. I used to like Kellyanna but not anymore. She also need to grow-up. Ashli is acting like a slut. I love Isaac and Cohutta. I also dont care much for Dummybear(LOL). Parisa has her moments but nobody desevers to be treated the way these girls have treated her. I also never like Shavon. She also acted like a slut.

team parisa for sure! i’m so glad you wrote this post, since i watched the episode (and i agree, i cant believe i’m actually watching this season!), i’ve been looking for an article. very happy to see so many can see who trisha is. she’s a terrible person. i was absolutely shocked with what the roommates were saying at their meeting and so glad parisa stuck with it and kicked her out! i hear they wont be getting another roommate, which is unfortunate – i was hoping they’d finally get another minority – which i think would help out. glad isaac is back next week – and honest! wonder how kelly anne (who is such a follower) will react when she hears his opinion.
Team Parisa all the way!!!! Did anyone else’s head spin when Trisha called Parisa fat? WTF? And she is so ignorant, immature, pigheaded, stubborn…and the list goes on! Sure, Parisa has her faults but they are nothing compared to the stupidity that was/is Trisha! And used to like KellyAnne but now I’m beginning to despise her, they are so childish!
I too cannot answer for why I watch the show and beyond that why I feel the need to comment on it. I guess that part of me needs to know, for the sake of my faith in humanity, that others are just as bothered by how horrible some of these girls are. I don’t expect much from MTV, but Trisha is just about the ugliest, depraved, and soul-less creature ever plastered across their channel. I love how any admission of wrongdoing dissolves as soon as the outcome does not suit her. It just shows how twisted her sense of right and wrong is. And her mindless gaggle of hags in tow! If they have an ounce of dignity, they will at least feel ashamed of themselves.
TEAM PARISA!
honestly, trisha has bothered me from the get-go. forget the fact that she’s a christian; she’s just a terrible person and incredibly immature. pushing? who does that? and does this not remind you of a bad day in 7th grade when kelly anne and ashli started spitting on the door? I hope that when these three watched themselves last night they were dreadfully embarrassed by how they acted. I fear for their (potential) offspring
and to answer your question, jen, I’ve been watching the real world since I was 8 (yes, since season two). it’s quite sad! but I love trash tv, what can I say?
I consider the RW as an audition for the RW/RR challenge. The girls on this show are just terrible, terrible human beings. It’ll be fantastic to throw them back together in the next challenge. Drama.
The only person I feel bad for is Trisha’s dad. He’s probably been under the delusion that is daughter is a princess, i can’t imagine what it must have been like to watch this and realize his daughter is a wretched human being.
I ask my self every time I watch the show, why the hell am I still watching this? This is horrible! And I really felt it last night. Trisha is just an ugly human being, she couldn’t wait to call Parisa fat, “dad, I just pushed a fat girl”. Uhm…what? No wonder girls have body image issues these days with people like her. Parisa is nowhere near fat…and honey, just a few more years and you’ll be much bigger than her. You can just see how lazy she is, and with her selfish attitude, she is SO going to be one of those girls who thinks she’s hot even though she eats whatever she wants and falls apart. She’s Britney in two or three years. And don’t even get me started on Shauvon, every episode I just could not ignore how big and fake her boobs where, how could no one in the house not wake up and say “my God woman, did you tell your doctor make mine a double?”
have an all girl real world. there would be no one left by the end of the show except for a couple of big girls who have a good sense of humor.
I could not stand Trisha and Kelly Ann, 1 down, 1 to go.
Thank you for this post. I watch this show wondering everytime why I’m still watching a show I hate and wondering if everyone feels the same way I do or if people actually relate to awful human beings like Trisha, Ashli, and Kelly Ann.
Trisha was just an evil, spiteful b****. The other 2 girls are the most immature people ever. Parisa isn’t perfect at all. She annoys me too, but compared to the other girls, she seems amazing. I wouldn’t mind living her (minus the singing) and eating her food she seems to like to cook for those ungrateful a**holes.
As for the boys, Isaac is awesome, Cahutta’s honest and funny and I like that, and Dunbar’s an idiot, but growing on me.
I like the previews for next week where Isaac come back and seems happy that Trisha is gone and says “nobody liked Trisha.”
Team Trisha…..NOT!!! Trisha is the most ruthless, conniving b*tch and I am so glad she was sent home. Yay for Parisa for sticking with her decision and getting rid of that “Good Christian” wanna be. As for Kelly anne and Ashli, grow the f*ck up. I liked Kelly anne, up untill now and as for Ashli, you should of never had gotten that chance to be on the show. You are a horrible replacement roomate. Both girls are such followers and obviously don’t have a brain to think for themselves. But besides all of that I LOVE ISAAC!!!
