Monday nights are meant for two things: Journeyman and crying.
Yes, Journeyman.
You know, the awesome show the whole world is ignoring, even though it’s on right after Heroes. It doesn’t make sense to me that people aren’t tuning in each week to see how time-traveling reporter Dan Vassar (Kevin McKidd, pictured) is going to deal with his long-suffering wife (Gretchen Egolf), his job (which always seems to be on the line), his son (who likes his "magic trick"), his ex-fiancée (who we recently found out is also a decade-jumper and really lives/d in 1948), his prying brother (who’s a cop), and what happens when you pull things back with you from the past (like money, wine, and guns). Did I mention that I cry at the end of practically every episode? What about the fact that the soundtrack adheres perfectly (and beautifully) to the years Dan "visits"? And that the show is absolutely nothing like Quantum Leap?!
Are you intrigued yet? You should be, despite the fact that NBC isn’t showing Journeyman any love. The network just announced episode orders for Chuck and Life, but left our time-traveler out in the cold. And here I thought Life was just a board game. I’ll be busted up if Journeyman gets canceled, but I’m used to early deaths for my cult favorites. I can only hope that if NBC scraps the show, they give it a fair ending, like the final episode of Surface. Mmmm…water and sea-creatures.
Tell me PopWatchers, should we start the petition on behalf of Journeyman right now? Or are there other shows whose fates concern you more?

Adore the show. Makes me remember my love for QL, though in a very different way. The idea of time continuing to pass in the present while he’s in the past is brilliant. I sometimes think of Livia like the “evil Leaper,” though she doesn’t seem to be evil…yet.
I’ve seen the show twice now. And both times, I accidentally thought it was Life (I tend to put shows like that in the background). Cuz all I can remember from Life is that it’s ok to watch, but the guy isn’t very hot. Which is the same situation with Journeyman. Sorry, it’s true. The episode last night was pretty interesting, though, when I was paying attention. They shouldn’t have made it sound so much like Quantum Leap when it came out because I didn’t realize it would have such a serial component to the story. I thought it would be another episodic adventure.
hands down this is the best new show on TV. if they cancel it, it would be a crime. but then again, putting it at 10 p.m. Mondays is just like cancelling it…
I love this show and I blog about it all the time. THere are tons of fans out there of this show and it would be an absolute travesty if it got canceled.
We should start a petition and I’ll get behind it on my blog too. Maybe others will as well.
Journeyman is great. To see how people love it, take a look at the other side of EW: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/11/nbc-orders-more.html
It just keeps getting better.
There is actually a petition already:

I’m not sure if this will get edited or deleted, but I write about Journeyman every week, and this past episode was the best of the season.
I hope this show can be saved, especially since it’s loads better than Life or Chuck.

I’ve been watching Journeyman and I love it. The episodes started out a bit slow but have definitely gotten better over the last few weeks. Last nights show was the best yet. It’s too bad that it’s going to get cancelled since NBC already put out a do or die notice. I’m hoping they at least air all the completed episodes.
I’ve been watching the show since the beginning. At first, I was kinda unsure if I would keep watching it or not. However, with each episode it gets better, and last night’s episode was no exception.
So, yeah, bring on the petition!
I am one of the most forgiving TV watchers I know (I’m still watching ER, for gosh sakes), but after just a couple episodes of Journeyman, I couldn’t do it anymore. It was painful to watch, the guy’s accent was awful, there was no character development, no chemistry with his wife, brother or ex-fiance – I could go on. I gave it up, and my Tivo is happier for it.
I might have watched it if McKidd was using his real accent, but it just doesn’t look that interesting to me. Hopefully “The Time-Traveler’s Wife” does better.
Anjeliki…wow, you said a bunch of things about the show that are wrong and none of it is true! No character development? No Chemistry? Accent is bad?
I think McKidd is the best part of the show and the reason why it’s so good, and the supporting cast has been perfect.
Well, I guess if you watched Rome and heard his accent there, that it might sound weird here…but I never saw that show, so he sounds pretty normal to me.
I can’t believe that would be a reason to not watch it
Thank you! Such an amazing show and has been a part of my Monday nights since the premiere
Me and my wife love it. Might be the fact we DVR it and are behind 4 episodes doesnt help the show but come on it is better than Chuck Bionic Heroes Law and order WTF unit. Save the show
