"Good news, everyone!" Futurama is back! Not on any network schedule, but in Bender’s Big Score, a feature-length DVD — the first of a planned four — that went on sale today. That’s 88 minutes of what is most assuredly animated-comedy gold featuring Fry, Leela, Bender, and the other space-faring misfits of the Planet Express delivery service. (My copy was pre-ordered many weeks ago and is now, hopefully, in a brown truck of the pathetically Earth-bound UPS delivery service.) Below is a short clip featuring the first five minutes from the new movie.
I know I’m not the only one that has missed the Matt Groening-created series (although I confess to jumping on this wagon after FOX grounded the show in 2003). Innumerable viewings on DVD have only convinced me that the finest episodes of Futurama can stand toe-to-toe with the finest episodes of The Simpsons. In fact, I’d even venture to claim that misanthropic and larcenous robot No. 2716057 (aka Bender Rodriguez) is the best character to have come from either series. So, who else out there is excited about this movie? And while you’re at it, what are your favorite Bender-isms?
I just picked up my copy! I can’t wait to watch it tonight. I’m not sure if I have favorite Benderisms, so much as there are a number of episodes where he really dominates. I love the one where he’s a god, the one where they brew beer inside him, the one where he turns into a human, the one that mocks “Titanic”… oh, who am I kidding? Bender is great in every episode!
I’m even more psyched about more Zoidberg, Hermes, Zapp Branigan, Robot Devil, and the amazing supporting characters.
I am very, VERY, excited about this.
And I have no Favourite “Benderism” because everything he says, and eveything everyone else says, is amazing.
I couldn’t beleive it when FOX cancelled this show. I am definitly buying this and watching it many many times. One of my favorite quotes “With my last breath, I curse Zoidberg!” Ok that was a Farnsworth line but Bender has too many to choose from.

I’m not going to win mother of the year because of this, but we’re waiting for the UPS truck now. We’ve had it on order since it was announced. Two family-fav quotes: kiss my shiny metal *&&, and gravity, you win again.
About the shiny metal line, I think it’s “bite” instead of “kiss.”
And while I really like Futurama, it’s not better than the Simpsons.

As a huge Bender Rodriguez fan (per EW, he’s the sci fi friend I always wanted), it made my day to find out the wait for the new Futurama cartoons ended! My plan’s to pick up a copy on Friday, so count me among the excited.
